They boast about profit to show they are being responsible in running the game. Why the hell would they want to maximise profit? They have no shareholders, no owners to divide profits. Whatever they save they spend in coming years like expansion etc.

You're the thick one! #-o

The AFL has made no apologies for freezing Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs out of Friday night

From: Herald Sun
October 31, 2012 10:00AM

AFL bosses Andrew Demetriou and Gillon McLachlan do not apologise for snubbing lowly Victorian sides from Friday night games.
THE AFL has made no apologies for freezing out lowly Victorian clubs from the Friday night stage next season.

As revealed in the Herald Sun last week, both Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs have been ignored for the prime slot next season.

SEE THE FIXTURE IN FULL: HERE

It impacts on the Demons and Dogs' ability to market their brands, but the league has made it clear Friday nights now have to be earned with sustained on-field performance

The AFL's chief operating officer Gillon McLachlan said it was a policy to have the best product in the best slot.

"Friday night's our biggest night,'' McLachlan said.

In the past, the AFL has been charitable enough to give at least one Friday night game to all Victorian clubs, but McLachlan said: "We've evolved from that''.

McLachlan said the league, which has also decided not to roster GWS, Gold Coast and Port Adelaide in the most watched category, wanted competitive matches.

He said the lower clubs understood.

"They don't want to be out there under lights when they're getting beaten by 15 goals - everyone understands it," McLachlan said.

The AFL raised the one-side Melbourne v Hawthorn game at the MCG on Friday night last year as an example of a lop-sided contest in a marquee slot.

The game is rotated between the best teams from the year before, irrespective of popularity

Where as the broncos get almost every FN irrespective of form.

Plus we have Saturday night which is also prime time.... :-k

The nRL would have close to double the amount of Friday night games the AFL has, so of course the small clubs like Cronulla and Canberra would get at least 1 game. If the nRL was the same as the AFL and rewarded teams in good form with Friday night games, then Canberra should have at least 5 on Friday, but it's all about tv ratings for the greedy nRL, so small teams miss out. yeah, nice try. These teams get multiple times the FTA exposure of many NRL clubs. When they become successful sides again they will get Friday night games again.

This is unlike the NRL where the raiders made the finals but will be lucky to get more than a few FTa games in total let alone Friday night games.

Those poor, poor Raiders. They must be seriously pissed off at the nRL for not giving them more prime time games despite going further in the finals than the Broncos. I feel sorry for them and their fans. Also how shit would it be living in QLD and not going for the Bronocs? No other choice but to watch them every Friday night lol.

You as usual have no idea what so ever, you're ******** I'm sure.

When the Raiders get a strong side once again that can win at home as well as away, they'll get their Friday night games on FTA again JUST LIKE THEY USED TOO WHEN THEY WERE ON FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL EVERY WEEK IN THE EARLY TO MID 90'S.

I PUT THIS IN CAPS BECAUSE YOU SEEM TO BE DEAF DUMB AND BLIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
