Sorry, I gave you the NZ number for last year. this year it was, according to the NRL site 277 thousand. Still a win to the NRL.

NRL:- 4.14

AFL:- 4.05

WoW a presetation. I guess thats what people need to resort to when there desperate:wink:
still the highest rating sporting event for the year.

The NRL GF has a substantial advantage of a shorter game and prime time on sunday, and you have no problem boasting despite these incomparable advantages. Yet the moment we say our game beat every other sporting event in Australia, and part of our GF broadcast rated higher than any RL sport even when including NZ, you cry foul.

Yep the desperation from Xman referring to presentations is funny stuff......

My link which i have shown countless times is the real numbers for NRL markets and AFL markets.

These are the numbers and a clear points decision to RL.

NRL also averages 275k on fox as per NRL annual report, AFL is around the 190k mark on fox.

NRL also averages more FTA viewers per match. How hard is this to understand Xman... :-k

more per match? only because theyre all exclusive and the AFLs are all concurrent bar one game. The finals showed who the real winner is. The AFL won virtually every final by quite some distance!

As for the GFs the figures you showed didnt include Tasmania or WA  . The AFL clearly won in Australia despite being averaged over a longer period, and not even in prime time. Add to that the presentation, which is part of the telecast, rated higher than the NRL GF and SOO in two countries!

Theres you winner right there.

I dont know about Melbourne but in a presention is not a sporting event.

The ARL has 80min game time the AFL 100m.

5/5.30 is not prime time.

The people of Melbourne must be really hard up for sport --? has Melboune ever produced any great sporting heroes?

The end of the game including the presentation is part of the event. Otherwise what would you call it? Art? Theatre?

The AFL game is 4x30minutes plus 15 minutes half time, so 135minutes. The NRL is 2x40minutes plus 10 half time, so 90minutes.

6pm is most certainly prime time and the Sunday news at 6pm is regularly the highest rating program of the week. After 5pm Sunday is a far better rating period than 2.30pm Saturday.

No, we just love sport, as opposed to Sydney who love.... :-k

An even bigger load of crap than the crap that preceeded it.

AFL have 4x 20min + exta time.

League games have extra time as well

What extra time is involved in RL? Doesnt the clock just keep running? If not how much extra time is added?

The AFL 'time on" accounts for at least 10 minutes per quarter. Therefore we get 4x30 minute quarters. Plus I believe the half time break is longer

Its not so much game time but broadcast time. Time when someone strewn out on the ground, or when someone gets stretcherd off, time off for cautions, scrum delays, ball go out of play, penalty goals, time after a try. All good time to get in adds.

Thats not what I was talking about. Im talking about the fact the ratings for the NRLs match is averaged over the length of the match which is 90 minutes. Where as the AFL is averaged over 135 minutes.

ads bring revenue to the network and the AFL have a huge advantage there because their game goes for longer and has more natural breaks for ads. The length of the telecast has an effect on the ratings average. This is where the NRL fans get a false perception that theyre competitive. If both games were shown over a similar length in time the AFL would win by miles.

Not nearly as many as you would like to think.

Excluding that the AFL other than Melbourne bring nothing more to the table than regional NSW/Qld.

There are plenty of advertising opportunities during a match from tries, goals, penalties , injuries , drop outs not to mention half time. That is why league gets paid more money per minute than any other sport in Australi. And that comes is the first contract after breaking free of the News Ltd. shackles.

They get what they get. Per minute means nothing. If it was that simple they would have sold more for more money, but its not. If they had sold more to FTA foxtel would have offered less for less exclusivity. The NRL took the money over coverage while the AFL got both. Increased exposure on FTA TV means increased sponsorship. The AFL will be miles ahead in 5 years.
