Thats a one off. Once all stadium renovations are finished and these new teams imnprove the average and total will climb. Short term pain for long term gain. Something the NRL know nothing about.

thats your hope ... time will tell & you are rarely right about anything

a far more believeable scenario then the above fairy tales you're telling would be further crowd falls are on the cards due to the continuing fall in standard of this woeful comp

down down down .. again in 2013

lose some ?

the 2009 Average was 37,000
its now 31,500

X 198 games played & we're at over 1 Million in real terms
take out the thuns & midgits combined attendance of 260,000.... & we're still at 750,000 down

the VFL brand is also be harmed by these oxygen theive clubs & they will never deliver anything much to your game
for someone to say ... believe
is typical of the stupidest fans of any sport in the planet .. VFL fans

Of course the game has suffered a set back after starting two new teams in expansion markets which are full of kids. Plus at the same time we are playing a team almost every second week in Tasmania. That combined with live TV of every game means crowds fell. Are they atrocious? Hmmm, still almost double the NRL so Im quite certain no one is worried.

But as I said, as these teams become competitive, and the draft and salary cap ensures they will, the crowds will stabilise and begin to grow again.

If there was no change in cercumstances, or the TV ratings and memberships had also dipped Id be worried. But theyve both had a healthy increase.

The AFL by the end of the deal will be playing in upgraded stadiums in Sydney,Adelaide and Perth. They will have state of the art stadiums in every capital city in Australia. The Nrl will still be playing out of brookie. The AFL have this covered my friend.

The draft and salary cap will ensure these teams become competitive. Enjoy bagging the uneven comp for a few more season but that will change very quickly and the AFL will be reaping the benefits of a comprehensive national comp. meanwhile the NRL will still be talking about Perth and a second Brisbane team.

Yeah right

The AFL knew these teams would take years to become competitive and to gain support. The swans and lions/bears were basket cases for many of their first few years and they've now got crowd averages and memberships that embarrass almost all NRL clubs.
