Back what up? The ratings are clear. SOO rates well but. Is not regular home and away. It's an event and only 3 times a year. The rest of the RL season is shite.

Figures for 2011 obtained by AFL.com.au indicate that 40.5 per cent of radio listeners during the football timeslots - 6pm to 11pm Friday, 12 noon until 11pm Saturday and 12 noon to 6pm Sundays - were tuning in to the football. So far in 2012, that figure has dropped to 34.5 per cent.

Virtually every program on TV outrates the NRL in AFL states.

30k regularly for fn NRL this year, from 3 cities!

During prime time 360K is about average ratings. There would have been a few other shows that would have outrated the SOO during prime time. The Block 7, 9,2 news, Offspring, Acurrent affair and Masterchief all rated about the same as the SOO. I watched the SOO personally I much prefer a good sporting contest to reality TV.

Yes and that source proves that the extra coverage that you now have has helped these radio listeners to tune into live Sport on tele instead of live radio.
NRL will get the same lift maybe even more then the AFL if we have 4 live games on FTA + 8 FOX games.
Your really not proving anything Xman, just pointing out to us what we been trying to tell you for the whole year now.....

I would say a lot of that lift is from Friday night live. Some is from the live Saturday night and a bit from local teams getting FTA TV. The lift for the NRL would have to come from Monday night FTA or from Saturday night FTA live games.

Yes and that source proves that the extra coverage that you now have has helped these radio listeners to tune into live Sport on tele instead of live radio.
NRL will get the same lift maybe even more then the AFL if we have 4 live games on FTA + 8 FOX games.

You already have FN live! The AFL didn't. This is why they have increased ratings, together with the earlier family friendly time slot.

It's a combination of live games, so more people watching and less people attending, and an earlier game that finishes at 10.20 instead of 11.20.

As I've stated, most 8.30 fn games suffered from people going to bed at half time because the second half didn't start until about 10pm. If the game wasn't close or of less value to that audience (eg Vic teams only shown to Adel Perth) the audience drop off after 10pm would be huge.

Now the game finishes at 10.20 instead of the second half starting at 10pm.

We've also had a pretty interesting year this year with about 12 sides in contention for the 8 and about 7 in contention for top 4.

Last years FTA and this year are similar. Therefore the increase is just foxtel which is around. 250-300k. This is easily justifiable when you consider the increase in viewers for live games, and the increased average for an earlier start and finish.

Crowds down on average 5k a match. 45K is a long way from a quarter of a million/300k.

Heres the alternative theory. AFL has invested in housing which have OzTam boxes in them. Next year AFL should have another big jump.

Face it, live footy at 7.30 produces massive results. You only have to look at the NRLs fn results to see. The live game at 730 rates 600-700k and the delayed game 300-350k. That's a difference of more than 50%.

Yep, totally reasonable increase for a live game which finishes at a decent hour of the evening.
