So RL ratings are also inflated by RU followers who flick over to see the score. Plus NSW and qld have the highest subscription rates so channel flickers are more likely to be from the states, and interested in RL. Plus there would be many cross coders interested in the scores of the other game. I'm sorry but your excuse is utter bs. Flicking over for a look at the score would add nothing to the ratings of a show that goes for 3 hrs. Add to that it would likely detract from the average of the show you've just turn off anyway.

You just don't like the fact that the AFL are actually kicking NrLs butt in the payTV ratings. Poor boy!

Both codes would be affected. But which code would be affected / benefit most? considering most of our games are on at different times?

I suggest you look there site up,

Dream on.

I have looked. They count per minute. Anyone switching over for less than 1 minute isn't counted. Anyone switching over for more than a minute is counted in the averages, but then they aren't counted on the other channel for that time. Therefore a net result as I said.

The only area this doesn't apply is reach which counts whenever anyone watches the program for any time. But we are quoting averages, not reach.

You've lost this one champ.

AFL, leaders in PayTV and FTA TV! =D>

Nation wide coverage, an extra FTA game and most probably Pay TV simulcast eh?

Here are the oztam sampling terms and definitions http://www.oztam.com.au/TermsAndDefinitions.aspx

They show that oztam sample each minute. It says each individual must watch at least 1 minute to be counted. Given that it samples each minute of time watched, any viewer that switches to another program for less than a minute will not be counted. Any viewer that switches for over a minute will be counted to the new program but will reduce the audience of the program they have switched over from.

Your excuses are bs as I knew they would be.
Then when he gets the score and switches back to his game, he 'll be counted again.

Ah no. He'll be added as viewing for 1 minute (averaged over 3hrs will mean nothing), but excluded from that one minute from the original channel, resulting in a net result.

That's the point. Oztam don't count people for two channels at once. If you watch one you're excluded from others. That why they count every minute.

Even without simulcast ch7s ratings are up. If viewers didn't have simulcast they would watch ch7. The reason ratings are so far up is we finally have some live games and we can watch them in prime time instead of 9pm-11.30pm

The NrL already have live friday nights, and decent foxtel coverage. Their increase will be minor. Plus if they show more FTA it will be Saturday which rates lower.

Could be Monday know all, then what huh?

We could also remove 1 Friday game and have it on a Saturday, then what huh?

I'd say a massive jump, wouldn't you?

You'll have a jump, but reduce in Foxtel ratings, so the net result won't be as big.

And do you think foxtel will be paying heaps if there's more FTA? This will definately reduce subscriptions.

You do realize the highest rating NRL club game (which is actually 2) this year, including regionals, is still about 500k less than the highest ratings AFL game right? :-k

An issue I would have with X mans ratings is that some of the games (eg saturday afternoon) are on at similar times and overlap, but they are not on at exactly the same times. Saturday night is about the only time slot where the games are on at exactly the same times. Eg GWS V Essendon was on at 7.30pm melbourne time, while Adelaide V Collingwood was on at 7.00pm adelaide time (7.30pm Melbourne time).

Yeah Xman you are getting desperate now, making up all these ratings for PAY TV. Who do you think actually believes what you have made up? My guess is very little.

I agree with the Saturday afternoon issue though, hence I have not added all three games together. But in essence the game at 2.30pm overlaps with the early and late afternoon games, so in reality it can be combined with an average of the other two games for a true audience.

Enlightening figures aren't they! No wonder they have the NRL boys in a panic! :?>
