That applies to you not me. The numbers this year are clear. You're the one clutching at straws.

Imagine comparing the proportion of regional ratings for each team then claiming the NRL have double over all!

All it shows is a significant proportion of the NRLs ratings are regional which is a bummer when it's the metropolitan networks that buy the rights!

What it shows is that the NRL has, in additon to the viewers counted on here, an extra 66% who are not counted!

Beau needs to put an asterisk below each ratings chart saying....* NB. In addition to the NRL figures shown on this chart an additional 66% are not included.

Yeah small problem. All 5 major metropolitan markets are counted. Not all regional markets are counted. Some overlap.

However, going on last years figures they only come to an advantage of 400k per round for the NRL anyway, even when they include rep games and SOO [-X . As we can clearly see, this is still not enough to bridge the massive gap in metropolitan numbers. :D

I've quoted the regional figures from last year which show the NRL get about 1.2m regionals per round and the AFL get 800k.

The gap without regions this year is about 1 to 2m per round in favour of the AFL. So as you can see, 400k extra regionals for the NRL is not going to do much.

What? The Metro figures are from this year and are on this website! The regional figures are not available to the average person other than the top 20', which only applies to the NrLs combined two live FN games. Therefore the regional ratings from last year serve as a rough guide.

regional figures only apply to FTA so last year

2011 single match average for NRL was around 550 - add 2/3 for regionals 360 = 910

Subscription rates are still lower in southern states. Many AFL fans are happy with 4 live FTA games per round. Having said that fox footy is still the number 1 channel on foxtel. =D>

Is lack of interest the reason subscriber rates are so low

Just sounds like another excuse from Xman, he knows that his dream of AFL taking over Foxtel is not coming to fruition.

it's a well known fact boys. Foxtel hasn't been a priority for AFL fans because the afls FTA coverage has been more than acceptable, and foxtel games limited and usually the poorer choice of games for the round. This year is different because there are more games on offer and some are the better games.

But subscriptions don't change magically over night. Many AFL fans have taken on foxtel but many have not because the FTA coverage is still the best it's ever been.

Xman the average for foxtell games for AFL last year was about 170k viewers.
Saturday 7th
LIVE: AFL ESSENDON V PORT ADELAIDE FOX FOOTY
146,000
LIVE: AFL ADELAIDE V BULLDOGS FOX FOOTY
134,000
Sunday 8th
LIVE: AFL ST KILDA V GOLD COAST FOX FOOTY
180,000
LIVE: AFL NORTH MELBOURNE V GWS FOX FOOTY
170,000

Foxtel will certainly be upset and feel ripped of if things don't improve.
