275K for the Storm .. for the prelim final last year in Melbourne
more then double what the gooses would get for the same game in Sydney

oh wait indeed
A prelim involving the warriors against no other sport. Hmm

How bout them Sunday ratings in season? 37k and not simulcast on foxtel like the swans are.

ah... the gooses are up against no other sports FTA programs on Sat nights .. in prime time.. with everyone knowing they're on
& struggle to get to 37K most weeks as well ..

the Storm get shown with no notice.. ( TV programs in derpsville still saying they're on at 2am after its announced they're on at a decent time )
... & they STILL get more ratings then the gooses

the gooses ... a joke on the box

Yeah, funny what being on top will do. I wonder what will happen when the drop off. Ratings of 20k, like Perth, will be the norm.

Agree, a pattern. 82k on gem, plus foxtel. Nice start for the swans and giants.

Friday night ratings in Sydney this year will once again out rate Melbournes
Here is some good news for NRL pussycat, finally showing all 3 FTA games on Gem into melbourne.

This will make the ratings gap even bigger for NRL.
Lol NRL on GEM in Melbourne will rate 20k I expect. That should help.
Xman when you make claims you gotta back it up buddy or risk looking like a tool.

Here is a link that shows the storm have had 80k viewers in Melbourne with jack all promotion and only 1 Melbourne team.

http://www.theage.com.au/rugby-league/l ... 1kf0l.html

And this come down to what i been saying about the historic 2 years promoted GWS vs Swans stand alone round opener, 2 Sydney teams and still the ratings being a total failure at 80k viewers.

The Melbourne storm are getting some stability and a permanent time slot and as raiderdave pointed out are growing there Audience every time they are on tele.

1 game late in the season got 80k.The Storm were top of the ladder and charging to the finals. The other games were dismal failures ratings wise. Unlike the swans and lions, the storm are not shown on FTA and payTV simultaneously, splitting the tv ratings.

Get the fact of your own claims right buddy!

In the opening round a match between NZ & Manly, (no Storm involvement) got 56k on FTA in Melbourne. The other night two Sydney based male netball teams went at it and they did'nt draw a lot more. SO WATCH OUT!

Channel nine really doing its best for this tv right deal.

Beaussie just watch the ratings total accumulative audience jump 5% for the year now that RL is shown around the country from round 5 onwards. TU Mr Conroy.

Beaussie the swans have been in Sydney for 30+year if in not mistaken and they still cant improve there ratings in Sydney, http://www.thepunch.com.au/articles/the ... elevision/

You seriously think the NRL will rate anything against the AFL in AFL states?

The storm get less than 10k attendance for many of their games. #-o

Perth, Adelaide and Tasmania don't even have teams! #-o

Grass roots RL outside NSW and QLD is virtually non existent. #-o

There are barely any NRL players that have originated from any of these states. #-o

The storm may get the odd 50k or less for their live games on TV, mainly becau of the novelty factor, but seriously, the level of interest will be amazingly low. #-o

Suddenly the Canberra Raiders are rating.

Long suffering Canberra fans will finally get to watch their side live on free-to-air TV for the first time in 574 days when the Raiders travel to Brisbane in round seven.

And the Raiders received more good news yesterday, the NRL confirming Canberra's round 12 away clash against Souths has been scheduled for Friday's free-to-air timeslot on May 25.

Advertisement: Story continues below
Channel 9's regional affiliate WIN has successfully lobbied the NRL to broadcast the Raiders' April 13 match against the Broncos live into Canberra.

It ends a long blackout for Canberra fans, who haven't been able to watch a live free-to-air Raiders match since the 2010 semi-final loss to the Wests Tigers.

WIN also appeased Canberra viewers in 2010 when it broadcast the crucial Raiders-Broncos final round clash live into the city.

The April 13 Raiders-Broncos match will be shown as it happens in Canberra and Queensland, with the St George Illawarra-Newcastle clash aired first in other areas.

It is a major boost for the Raiders, who are still searching for a major sponsor, and Raiders chief executive Don Furner declared it the common sense outcome for all parties.

''I remember the year before [2010] it was the first year they had the technology to do it [split the Channel 9 feed] and they've realised we'd be a better rater in this region,'' Furner said.

''The fact that it's an away game means it doesn't hurt our gate, so it's a great result for us.

''We don't go to Channel 9, they [WIN] took the fight up for us and stood their ground and said this is what we want to do.

''They win out of it, we win out of it and the fans win out of it.''

The Raiders are hopeful the Broncos match will attract strong ratings to further the club's push for greater free-to-air coverage.

Canberra's win over Wests Tigers on Monday night was round four's highest rating match on Fox Sports with 315,000 viewers.

The Green Machine played attractive, attacking football, prompting commentator Greg Alexander to brand it the most entertaining game he had called this year.

Canberra was allocated just two Channel 9 games last year - Friday night home clashes against Brisbane and Canterbury - both of which were shown on delay.

But Furner is confident free-to-air coverage will be spread across the clubs more evenly when the new TV rights deal is announced mid-year.

''I've been saying it for years and finally we've got some traction leading into the current TV negotiations,'' Furner said.

''We're not the only club [that highlights the issue], but there has to be some sort of minimum [number of matches for each club on free-to-air].

''It's a big benefit for the broadcasters to pick games they think will rate best and commercially we understand that, but it would be nice if there was a minimum number so it's a little more equal for other clubs.

''You look at the Broncos and St George. They would be on [Channel 9] 20 times a year and we're lucky to be on two or three, it's a huge difference.

The NRL maximize their ratings because they need a large TV rights deal to be able to survive. But it hurts their less popular teams big time.

When you start having a go at the NRL Scheduling you are just making yourself out to be a bigger hypocrite. 7 of your teams have got less Friday night games, in the past 4 years combined, Than Collingwood - the poor old swanies have got 0.

OK, have a good think about it.....last year, when was the AFL live in Sydney? Friday night? NO! So why the hell would the AFL play the swans on FN when they wont be televised? ](*,) Dont you think the AFL would prefer the swans to play when they arent shown on TV against another FTA NRL game? Hence the lack of FN games! ](*,) The Raiders are without a major sponsor because of a lack of exposure! The Sharks and Penrith ar also rooted for the same reason! Are the Swans struggling for sponsorship or exposure? #-o

Your code is a sham. It shows it's largest club unashamedly almost every FN live to the detriment of the rest of the league. And for what, ratings!

The AFL share the FN games around many teams, with favoratism given to the teams that have performed well the year before, because that's what people want to see: the best contest, not the same huge club playing each and every time! ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)
