X man , you seem very excited for someone who redily adbmits the NRL has a 12% larger audience, and that is despite currently having ony 3 matches on FTA TV.

If TV were affected to any great extent by time then the Australian Cricket Board would be zillionares.
The 12% larger audience is only due to the difference in scheduling ie live tragetted games, a longer season, rep games, SOO, more watchable games per week etc. in reality it means little when the product gets almost 1/3rd the advertising time per program!

This was Roy Masters last year, despite the fact not all areas of the AFL heartland are counted. Don't give me this bs theAFL regionals aren't significant! Over a season plus finals that ends up being 820k per round.

The AFL got 885k with one game on a Saturday (not the better rating FN) without the need to target each AFL heartland city like the NRL do every FN with 2 games.

And don't give me this historic game bs. It was a very one sided game as expected and would have dipped in ratings significantly over the 3 Hours.
You have just proved my point that the regionals for NRL are way bigger then AFL, i linked you 2 links that show non regional ratings for nrl friday and AFL saturday stand alone round historic game moment what ever it was lol.

You have not disproved what i have posted that if you add regionals to the argument AFL are even further away in the ratings battle. And your link doesn't work btw.
I never disputed the NRL regionals are more. However they are not double despite the NRL regionals including two targeted games. They would be even closer if all AFL regional populations were counted.

Your link is for only part of the AFL telecast. It was simulcast on 7mate and fox footy. All these add up to 885k, some 200k more than the NRL despite being on Saturday and including teams from one state. A sad result for the NRL that's for sure.
See the problem i have with all that is that you have posted no links to backup your claim that AFL outrates NRL on fta. I have posted several links that prove AFL don't come close. You still have not posted any links for Swans vs GWS game that you claim did 88k in sydney on 7mate? Were is your proof please. And how in the hell did you come up with 885k for GWS VS Sydney?

So round 1 game one on Saturday night between two Sydney teams rated 885k! =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

That's why we got 1.25b right there!
It appears the game rated much better on Fox Footy

Wow using twitter is legit is it lol

Tweeted from the AFL doesn't count as proof.

BTW nrl games are doing 1.2 - 1.4 million on Friday nights as my link showed, so your still fair bit of mate.

Will say one thing tho 250k for AFL is a decent result for Pay TV, that's about the only thing your can take out of this.

My link was from the Throng for PayTV. The peak FTA audience on 7mate was 98,000. Very impressive viewing numbers right around the country on FTA and PayTV. Channel 7 and Fox Footy no doubt very happy indeed.
Even in NRL-mad Sydney, where the game aired on the network's digital channel 7Mate, the match drew a peak audience of 98,000.

MMh, means nothing hey? How many rounds does is take for you to get 15m? - 5 ???

As I said , length of time isnt that major a factor. If it was test cricketers would be using gold plated cricket bats. Its a much bigger plus to have 4 of the top 5 programs.

AFL 885k
Wrong, just shy of 950k from one non targetted game on a lower rating Saturday night!! =D> =D> Regionals for the AFL would add even more. Imagine if this game showed Collingwood v Westcoast! :D

Roy Masters himself said the AFL almost triple the NRL for advertising space for every single game!

Seriously, how is length of program not important? A 2hour program is like 2 one hour programs and would earn double the revenue with the same ratings! #-o #-o

Why do you think the AFL have a better deal? Because they're nice guys? Even NRL medai commentators and experts are predicting the NRL will get around 1B only. Why would they say that if the NRL was of greater value?

I didnt say that having a match that goes one third longer is not important, but it certainly isn't as important as you try to make it out to be. Test matches (probably ?) dont make anymore for a network than a onedaty match.

The AFL get better deals (or did) for no reason other than our ownership, and the exlusive contracts weve been forced into.

If they only get $1b for our next contract it will still be a 100% increase on our last contract - and thats only the begining. But if they pamper to the TV networks and include extra add breaks they'll get more. Futhermore there notall saying it . But a doubling overnight of our contract over night is a very large increase.

Sure it is, and it would be a good result for the NRL. I personally don't believe they will get that much though, probably 800-900k, but some will depend how much real competition ch9 get from ch10.

But the NRL need a great result. They don't get the sponsorship, membership and gate receipt revenue of the AFL, not even close.

http://www.crikey.com.au/2012/03/26/AFL ... fta-watch/

And contrary to reports this morning, the national TV audience for both broadcasts was an impressive 1.148 million, which will please the AFL. A total of 897,000 watched the FTA coverage on Seven in the metro markets and its affiliates in the regions (7Qld and Prime).
For a single game, targeted to 1 non heartland state only, on Saturday night a lower rating time, and averaged over 3 hours =D> =D>

Slightly of topic , but why is your opening match a week before the rest of your Round? Are you planing on making a big splash with your ratings early before the big fade off again this year?
