Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings Thread
Im afraid we only get 3 games and 2 are on Friday night.
And you exagerate when you say there on every week - they are on most weeks.

Aren't they on for the first 9 weeks or something like that? Even when they aren't they show the titans, which are still a targeted team for that region.pussycat wrote:Im afraid we only get 3 games and 2 are on Friday night.

All in all it results in great ratings for your live fn games at 7.30pm. How you can possibly compare this arrangment to the AFL of previous years which shares the fn games **** teams of all different levels of popularity and location, plus is delayed by 1 to 3 hours, plus goes until 11.30, and played on a fixed schedule, I have no idea!

Thats right! surprise, surprise ... they show a Qld team in Qld, Just as you show a WA team in WA ... every week!

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings Thread
But not on Friday night live in primetime every week! That's the point! Why are the Broncos shown to Brisbane every Friday night and not Sunday? Because it maximizes the ratings as Friday night is a much higher rating than Sunday afternoon and the Broncos are the sole team for a city of 2 million people. Ch9 don't do it for nothing!pussycat wrote:Thats right! surprise, surprise ... they show a Qld team in Qld, Just as you show a WA team in WA ... every week!

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings Thread
Why would it hurt teams like the raiders, sharks, panthers etc..? There not Qld teams! The decision to broadcast the Broncos 7 times in the firt 8 matches is purely a Channel 9 one, No doubt because they are the leading Qld team. No doubt if we had 4 matches shown in Qld each week , the other two QLD team would get more of a look in.

Hmm, why do you think?pussycat wrote:Why would it hurt teams like the raiders, sharks, panthers etc..? There not Qld teams! FN is the highest rating game by a huge margin. Therefore the team is seen by more people, and their sponsors are seen by more people. Who would you rather advertise your product to? 1mil on FN or 250k on Sunday arvo?
Teams like the raiders, sharks and panthers are struggling for sponsors and revenue. A lack of exposure will be one of the main causes.

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings Thread
There should be no doubt about ratings - we swamp you in that department. Our Friday night ratings from our Sydney game usually beats you Melbourne game on the same night. As for our QLD match it rates as well or even better than your top rating WA &SA match combined. And I havnt even mentioned regionals where we hold at least a 3-1 majority. Apart from this we have rep football wich delivers many of the highest ratings between our two codes. The Storm usually dont get shown before midnight', when they do they usually outrate the Swans in Sydney. The only drawback has been air time and that will come now that News have gone.

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings Thread
There is no doubt. The NRL do well at 7.30 on FN in Sydney and Brisbane because ch9 control the schedule, much to the detriment of the NRL overall. The AFL have not had a similar arrangment because their games have been on later, non targeted, delayed and a fixed schedule. Even then the AFL often won the 5 city comparison!pussycat wrote:There should be no doubt about ratings - we swamp you in that department. The other time slots are dominated by the AFL.

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings Thread
The AFL dont have that arrangment because they have more tv coverage and split there broacast for different areas.
You are on prime time of a Friday night 7.30 - 8.30 makes little difference

Exactly. The Ch 9 use the NRL to target FN at 7.30. The other NRL FtA games rate poorly.pussycat wrote:The AFL dont have that arrangment because they have more tv coverage and split there broacast for different areas.

The AFL use ch7 to show their game evenly across the weekend to all markets. They win overall because all rate well without one game standing out because they appeal to so many different markets.

So they play the broncos almost every night for fun? Have a look at the ratings for your 9.30pm game. Atrocious!Raiderdave wrote:Xman wrote:Exactly. The Ch 9 use the NRL to target FN at 7.30. Oh and give it a rest. Your city population rates at 700k or less from 7M and you expect us to believe you get the same or more ratings from 5.5M regionals?

The NRL claim victory from prime time FN live games but lose all the rest comfortably.

Even Andrew Demetriou there god has said many times how well league rates on pay and free to air.
Mr Demetriou please educate your fanbase as they are inhibiting your ability to expand into the two biggest states in the country.
If you cant expand into NSW AND QLD then what hope have you got to expand internationally.

fudge fudge!

The 2 houred delayed Qld game isnt aimed at the Sydney audience and vice versa, that why they dont rate that highly.
Perhaps your theory could explain why Ch9.'s Sunday match (the 5th rated game of the nrl round) more often then not , rates higher in Sydney than Melbournes Ch.7 /10 match, rates on a Sunday in Melbourne?
