RL - International Broadcast Schedule

Post by Dogs »

New partnerships in the US and France and an expanded Asian market are part of an exciting overseas Rugby League broadcast schedule announced today that will see the 2012 Telstra Premiership delivered worldwide.

Rugby League in 2012 will be seen live each week in the US, France, Pacific Islands, Canada, United Kingdom, Africa, the Middle East and Asia as well as Australia and New Zealand; and even by people on cruise ships on international waters for the first time.

The new US agreement with FOX Soccer Plus and FOX Soccer will see live coverage of the Telstra Premiership Grand Final, all three Harvey Norman State of Origin matches, two live games from the Telstra Premiership each week and a half hour highlights program.

The rapidly expanding French broadcasting arm of Aljazeera will televise a weekly Telstra Premiership match, weekly highlights package, the State of Origin series and Telstra Premiership Grand Final. Talks are also being held with broadcasters in Eastern Europe and Italy.

The audience in Asia, which will see weekly live Telstra Premiership matches and weekly highlights package, has expanded with new territories including Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Bali and Mongolia.

Discussions are also continuing in the Philippines and Indonesia, along with negotiations to broadcast in Brazil, South America, for the first time.

In another first, a new partnership with Carnival Australia will see three Telstra Premiership matches broadcast weekly within international waters across three P&O cruise ships.

“The new United States agreement significantly adds to the mainstream exposure of our game and our presence in the region,” said Australian Rugby League Commission Chief Executive, Mr David Gallop.

“On the whole, our new international broadcast schedule for 2012 is very exciting and gives Rugby League fans worldwide the opportunity to experience the excitement and thrills of our game on a regular weekly basis during the season.”
