AT long last, rugby league's march towards independence is almost over after the 16 NRL clubs agreed to sign club licences with the new ARL Commission.
Following a meeting of club chairmen and chief executives with the eight commissioners today, the clubs backed down on their threat to boycott next year's competition if they did not receive $2.1 million in funding each from next season.
