Oh that's right, they don't play AFL.
NSWAFL wrote: Oh yes they do!!
Claimant: NSWAFL
Challenged: 2130 21/01/12
Challenger: ParraEelsNRL
Summary:
A classic fight which is really over terminology. The claimant meaning the sport AFL is played in Newcastle. The challenger meaning that Newcastle do not have a team playing in the AFL. This is another situation where the claimant's meaning is all that needs to be proven, since that is what was challenged. If the challenger wanted to challenge under a different meaning they should have posed the question first eg "are you saying that Newcastle have an team in the actual AFL?"
Decision: I find for the claimant and award him a 'smartest and best point'

For what its worth, here was my address of the file/claim. Ah to have power, i remember those days
BS File claim#3: ParraEelsNRL wrote:

NSWAFL wrote: Oh yes they do!!
Summary: A simple case of the use of the term AFL as a means to describe the sport of Australian Rules Footbal. One would assume the claimant knew Parraeels was referring to the national competition in his reference to Newcastle not playing AFL but one cannot be certain... The claimant defended his claim by referring to AFL as a common term used for the sport in NSW. While the challenger provided evidence to the contrary, the claimant provided evidence in favour of his claim. Both claimant and challenger therefore layed their stake. In such a case as this one the adjudicator must resort to the official meaning of the term AFL, i.e. Australian Football League. Newcastle do not "play Australian Football League". Although one can understand nswafl's mishap, and that this is a common mishap, Talking Footy encourages appropriate terminology. A simple case.
Decision: NSWAFL to be awarded a BS point to send a clear message across the web and to all members that using incorrect terms for a code is both foolish and disrepectful to the code.
Congrats on your BS point nswafl

Full of shit and if that's the way you want to play your little bs file game, it's dead already.
Good one xman, I knew you couldn't be trusted, after all, this is the same guy that said he hated the tolling of boards and when he was kicked off LU for the 20th time, he took the fight to facebook.
Yes, a hypocrite.

Yeah right. I actually adjudicated against an AFL fan for a decision. That's more than EK did, yet I'm the bias one?ParraEelsNRL wrote:Full of **** and if that's the way you want to play your little bs file game, it's dead already.

Hey, I said they don't play AFL in Newcastle and I'm right.
No team, no colours, no home ground, no support, no TV, no radio , no nothing.
When was the last AFL premiership match played in Newcastle?
Huh? Huh?
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell?

So every time you've described ARs as alf, where you talking about one of the main teams? Try not lying, your posts are all here to seeParraEelsNRL wrote:Hey, I said they don't play AFL in Newcastle and I'm right.

Re: BS file claim#3: Newcastle play AFL
You can't have it both ways, you complain when we say AFL to describe the game saying it's not and it's called Australian Rules, then when we use that and you don't like it because of the Newcastle thing or any other number of reasons, it's ok to use AFL because it's the same thing?
Ha, you couldn't think such crap up unless someone else posted it, fair dinkum, talk about having your cake and eating it too.

And that's what it comes down too, you and I both know I played NSWAFL like a fool in the first post about this and he fell for it hook line and sinker, yet now, you're protecting him from his own stupidity and dumbarseness.

Re: BS file claim#3: Newcastle play AFL
Firstly it doesn't matter what you said. He made the claim and the claim was correct. The fact you interpreted his term differently is your fault not his. You should have asked for clarification. You tried to be a smart arse and lost.ParraEelsNRL wrote:And that's what it comes down too, you and I both know I played NSWAFL like a fool in the first post about this and he fell for it hook line and sinker, yet now, you're protecting him from his own stupidity and dumbarseness.
Secondly you use the term yourself so you're a hypocrite!
