Prosecutor: "sir, can you please point the person you saw commit this crime out to the court"

Witness: "thats him there, he looks a bit different but that's him"

Prosecutor: "are you sure?"

Witness: "No, but it's as good as him" :-k

RL claim touch as RL, even though it has no tackling, which is essentially the major skill and attraction in their game. Touch also has no kicking at all which is another major part of their game. Ther are a number of other main differences as well.

So in the same way I think ARs should also claim another similar sport as Aussie Rules. In this sport they kick the ball lots, but can't touch it with their hands. They have goals but they're a different shape. Other than that they're "close enough". Its called soccer. I think that makes ARs much bigger than RL and far more international.

Fast moving, evasive and involving minimal contact, Touch Rugby is a game played all over the world by men and women of all ages and skills levels.

A simple yet exciting game, Touch promotes the fundamental skills of running, handling and support play, whilst developing the basic principles of attack and defence without the fear of getting hurt!

The game really does involve minimal contact and is all about playing the game on the field and also the social atmosphere afterwards.

Here are just a few reasons why you should get involved in Touch Rugby:
It’s a great way of meeting people and involving partners or friends
It’s a non-contact game so is almost completely injury free
It’s a very social sport and is a great way of team building
]
Corporate Touch
Touch Rugby League is perfect for corporate competitions with teams of workmates competing against each other or against other companies.

One great example of this is the NHS staff Touch Rugby competition. For more details about this competition and a explanatory video check out the Touch Rugby section at http://www.sportandphysicalactivity.nhs.uk/nhstouch.asp

Hmmmm, if it's not RL, why would the RFL (the oldest RL governing body in the world) have it on their website under Touch Rugby League?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rugby_league_in_England
Rugby league is played at a school level in many schools in the heartlands; recently it has been introduced into some schools outside the traditional areas in particular in London and Hertfordshire. Thirty-three percent of schools across the UK offer rugby league as a school sport.[22]
The RFL uses two modified forms of rugby league created by ARL Development in Australia. Mini league (known as mini footy in Australia) is played by all children up to Year 4 of Primary School. It is designed to provide children with a safe environment, a firm knowledge of the laws of rugby league and a chance to practice the skills such as tackling, passing and common defensive and attacking tactics. Players up to and including Year 6 of Primary School play mod league. Mod league is a bridge between mini league and full contact rugby league. On completion of mod league, players make a move to full international rugby league laws.
The Champion Schools tournament is a national competition for secondary schools. In the 2005/6 academic year over 1,200 teams and 20,000 players competed in the Champion Schools tournament, making it the largest rugby league competition in the world.[23] Eighty percent of participants are new to rugby league.[24] The growth of the Champion Schools tournament led to the creation of the Carnegie Champion Colleges competition for Years 12 and 13. The regionally based competition was introduced in 2008 and started in January.[25]

29.10.2010 | RFL offers Touch Rugby to businesses and organisations across London!
The Rugby Football League (RFL) is offering all Pro-Active member organisations the chance to keep fit and have fun with Touch Rugby sessions.

The League For All project makes rugby league accessible to people of all ages, genders and abilities with the delivery of four modified versions of the game. Organisations in the London boroughs can now access coaching and resources from the RFL to take part in Touch Rugby as a great way of team-building, being physically active and improving employees’ health.

Touch Rugby is a fast-paced but minimal contact sport with a great social scene and is therefore suitable for all, with mixed teams being positively encouraged. The rules of Touch Rugby remove the element of contact from the game with the focus on running, passing and evasion skills.

Organisations who are interested in taking part in Touch Rugby will be offered a range of options to suit their individual needs, with one-off tournaments, regular league fixtures and social sessions some of the flexible formats that are already up and running across London.

For more information about the opportunities being offered or the League For All project in general, please don’t hesitate to contact Chris Williams (League For All Officer) on 07515 753 949 or chris.williams@rfl.uk.com.

A lot of people in England still refer to both codes as Rugby without League or Union at all.

So Sara, why are the RFL organising TRL if it isn't RL?

Couldn't they be sued if they are doing the wrong thing?

Hmmmmm, case closed people, move on.

Oh, and Bea just lost another thread, pity it wasn't a BS file eh?

Touch, touch footy or touch rugby as I've heard it, (I've never heard touch rl) is a simple game of keep-it-off with a few formal rules. Apart from a few simple rules it has none of the overall infrastructure of RU or rl.
Nice try Cos.

24 hours of Touch Rugby League
Posted on July 5, 2011 by laurenbrown
Over 800 people took part in the RFL organised 24 hour Touch Rugby League World Record attempt which was played from 8am on June 29 to 8am June 30 at Salford City College to raise money for the Christie Charity.

There was a number of special guests taking part including club mascots, former professional players, England players, journalists, and RFL staff and the organisers are awaiting official verification from Guinness to confirm the new World Record.

The Steve Prescott Foundation entered an all-star team which included former professional players such as Paul Sculthorpe to take on challengers in the evening.

Steve Prescott MBE said: “It was fantastic to take part in such a well organised event. The Christie is close to my heart and it is great to see the Rugby League Community get together to tackle Cancer.

“I hope next year we can double the amount of participants!”

Teams and players arrived throughout the day to take part including 150 pupils from Wade Deacon High School and the event finished with a Game of Hope featuring current cancer patients, previous and family members of patients with Christie hospital staff.

A team of journalists which consisted of players from national media outlets such as the Guardian, People, Radio Manchester took on the England Women team.

Andy Wilson from the Guardian said: “We were bowled over by the scale of the event, the quality of the organisation and the feelgood factor on the night. We were also grateful to some sympathetic refereeing for flattering our efforts against the England women, who were very impressive.”
