As a more general subject these "code wars", generally acknowledged as being media driven to sell newspapers, have they produced a result ? IMO, I believe they have. I believe they have generated a substantial amount of media which has kept the GWS and football in the Sydney limelight for an unexpectly long period, much longer than they could have expected with their AFL, draft and community releases. Detractors will say that the media have stirred up the rl fans. They probably have. Does that matter ? Yes, but when you consider the overwhelming benefits to attracting people who aren't rl fans the net result is a big coup for GWS marketing.

despite you dressing up an old wether on its last legs to look like spring Lamb......GWS are in for a very rough time of it
they are already the focus of scorn for even despite their leg up & advantages over the other 17 teams handed to them on a sliver platter , they still had flagrant disregard for rules , & its left a bitter taste in the mouth of most AFL clubs & their fans.

they will struggle delux in 2012.... they'll be lucky to win a game
the headlines that will acompany this borderline embarrasing season onfeild will be less then glowing & all efforts to put it into perspective will fall on deaf ears
the impression for nuetrals will be GWS are hopeless , the negativity that will come from the Sydney press will be unrelenting
so those people who aren't RL fans will not be GWS fans either ...


I'm struggling to think who will be their fans
they are signing up members at an alarmingly slow rate .. its starting to come off the rails already
