Why dosent State of Origion sell out in Sydney
Hey anyone who knows league can you please tell me why Sydney siders dont go & watch State of Origion?
Just looking at this table
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_of_O ... statistics
SOO is more often not sold out then it it? Why is this? Sometimes its as low as 60% full.
Is it because NSW fans are fickle and dont really care about League?

Envious again, while your code had 1 game this year rate over 3 million, Rugby League had 4.

I am not envious it just does not make sense to me. You would think if there was that many league fanatics in Sydney SOO would sell out months in advance.eels fan wrote:Envious again, while your code had 1 game this year rate over 3 million, Rugby League had 4.

Makes perfect sense when you consider how pathetic NRL crowds are with Grand Final tickets on sale from July and still no sellout. The game is a joke with its so called fans so lacking in passion. yep you nailed it there. League has very few core fans, a couple of people watch it on TV but they will switch off fast if there is something better on (just like when SOO lost to Master Chef). I imagine when the new TV deal comes out and Channel 9 cant cherry pick Broncos games every friday night we will start to get a better idea of how many true league fans there are out there. Imagine if there was games like this every friday night.Beaussie wrote:Makes perfect sense when you consider how pathetic NRL crowds are with Grand Final tickets on sale from July and still no sellout. its not just the raiders. The Broncos are the only team that rates consistency. Could you imagine something like Penrith vs Nth Qld on TV? The only way Channel 9 will pay a billion bucks for the NRL is if they get to choose the games and then we will get nothing but Broncos like we have had for the last 5 years. I will see if i can dig out the list that shows the number of games on Friday night per team, it so funny.Beaussie wrote:Haha Raiders aren't on tv for a reason. Ratings disaster. Bring it on lol
Just imagine the AFL ratings if 7 got to pick the games each week.

Yes some interesting figures there borgidiom. I know when me and beaussie went to the SOO some years back in Sydney there was no doubting it was a sellout and everyone turned up even in the pouring rain.
Personally the only reason I can think of for the lack of sellouts in the past decade is that shi.thouse ANZ/Telstra/whatever its called stadium. Its never had any atmosphere in it since the olympics and it never will for league games. The seats are a long way from the action even when you're on the fence and the design of it is not conducive to a good atmosphere even for AFL games. Personally I'd prefer watch the SOO or AFL at the pub than at telstra stadium. The SFS is where SOO should be held.

Re: Why dosent State of Origion sell out in Sydney
Let me point out to eels fan that while the top games pull more, the totals put the AFL in front according to this website. That can only be caused by other games rating so poorly it's where the real problem lies. There could not possibly be any other reason for that discrepancy. RL has big problems with balance.
Rugby League has a lying culture. Altering crowd figures, relying on inaccurate TV figures from regional NSW and refusing to distance itself from Leagues Clubs and obtain it's own club memberships as it relies on LC's to survive as private entities.

Is it because NSW fans are fickle and dont really care about League?
the average crowd at ANZ for Origin is over 72K
or nearly 3 Swans games
the average TV audience for Origin in Sydney is over 1 Million
or 20 Swans games

If NSW doesn't like League based on this
they have a less then appealing attitude toward flogball don't they .. ?

everyone of those games would outrate most of the best AFL games .... Regional vewiers ensuring it
they'd slaughter an unappealing gigglball game ( which is every game as far as veiwers up here are concerened , but I mean even to the brainwashed ******* that inhabit the Shtn states
)
your point is moot
theres nothing flogball can do to outrate league , or hope that changes to the way our games are broadcast effect our ratings ...
as it is not as popular
