i like how alot of people are saying PNG is 3rd world and poor, that is why they will fail...

there are heaps of countries that are on this list... that play sports internationally or domestically...

PNG CHIEFS will be a powerhouse, simply on the fact the Government wants them too be.
Yep. It seems the fumblers here are just plain jealous of the NRL juggernaught. Teams in 3 nations and dominating the Pacific will do that.

They can console themselves with the suburbs of Melbon and the shitty desert state capitals. Oh......and tiny Tassie. Lololololol!!! Dills.

Agree with all that although still sceptical re: tourism - be a boost initially - but once hype wears off would be surprised.

Also not as convinced re: success long term either
Its been bankrolled by two national governments Freddo. Its success ad infinitum is guaranteed.

Don’t get me wrong - I hope it succeeds - be good for the local people. Financially, it will survive due to as you said - government support - how long that lasts though - I do wonder re: viability re players - sure there will be initial marquee players going - but wonder if it will end up a retirement fund for aging players to see out their careers. Right now they are doing okay of course. Time will tell I guess.

You seem to be very jealous of the PNG team being funded by governments and players and staff paying precisely zero tax makingdumbnormal. In fact you've stayed up till 2am in the morning to send this post. Thats a new level of envy and resentment pal. I'd advise you to calm down. Go to bed at regular times and drink hot cocoa. The big bad PNG Rugby League team ain't gonna hurt ya. Its gonna be alright pal.

PNG isnt like your suburb of Sydney or any other part of Australia, so so called tax free money will go towards security for the player & good luck convincing the wife to move over with the kids away from her safe suburban home of Sydney or Brisbane
the 2 new NRL teams Temu Pete must be so confident in succeeding he doesn't want to use any of the NRLs own money to invest in the teams rather than tax payer money

long term NRL will not be relying on Star players to fill the coffers of PNG>>
that is why Grassroots is being pushed on a huge scale

currently PNG Div 1 league in PNG is a very good brand and quite successful.
it is just not up to NRL standard high quality...

in time the plan is too have PNG players at a High standard across the board.
