heck Indians are the largest migrant group now days in Australia, so heck both codes should bring in quota numbers to make it more multicultural

its mostly a free market and let kids play the game or code they want to play

Here is a wonderful observation from our dear old friend sookie. It seems the AFL acknowledges its disastrous treatment of our indigenous brothers and have launched a First Nations Impact Fund. This is at least a start but its a long way back after decades of neglect and outright abuse of indigenous AFL stars.

a large chunk of those numbers are Tongan, Samoa the NZ islander Mouri? PNG other surrounding islandes ... where union and league is well established and body types well suited to paying rugby. league is mostly bash, crash and if you have a large frame why not make the most of it

on the local side so what if the NRL has 10 more players playing than the AFL and the AFL will have 10 more playing 4 year into the future, its a free market and kids will choose to what they are influenced by in there early days, what there parents did or a player from there local area. for the islanders being so undeveloped compared to Australia League or Union is a chance for riches

so the AFL has a drafting system and picks players based on talent, the NRL does not and has what system?
