TV DEALS >>>

NRL 2023 to 2027 is not comparable to the AFL's tv Deal which is 2025 to 2031

NRL is looking at signing 2028 to 2032

That is Right and the up coming deal will reflect this on the TV deal > not a deal signed in COVID

and the NRL should not be that far ahead ????

HOW can it be when the AFL has 70% more advertising opportunities than the NRL
not only on FTA but also on FOX>
quarter time half time is almost double the length of NRL and three quarter time.

there is more Advertising in 1 quarter of AFL than the entire NRL broadcast.
add this through the year to every game and it is HUGE
The $ rates of the cost of advertising, exclusive to one network or shown on both, times of games and shown in isolation. Many different factors as well as advertising opportunities

If you look at the AFL clubs they dwarf the nrl clubs in advertising dollars also

So make your any variable you want
Isolation, Isolation Isolation >>>

THE AFL and Networks worked out the best for TV, Money for the Clubs
and this is there format>>
AFL have more FTA games into home markets of home teams to maximize viewership

Many different factors which all favour an AFL game>>
Length, breaks between quarters, adverts after goals> (Nothings favours the codes of UNION, LEAGUE or Soccer.

Packer CH9 once said the most valuable advertising slot was after each over of Cricket.
which is very similar to the AFL> happens frequently and your tuned in
I agree with most of this - 1 point is that home games into QLD do not always mean people who often follow another team get to watch their team -if Brisbane and/or suns are playing at the same time - this was my sole reason for getting foxtel when i moved to QLD - as couldn't watch a Collingwood game or the blockbuster on FTA as would play a Suns or Lions game.

yes in ways, though they target the majority overall (which generally equals better figures)
and there is not many times Collingwood will clash with the SUNS or the Lions
as they generally have a popular draw overall (as they rate well)

in saying Collingwood rate well into QLD in primetime slots.

Peter V’landys and Andrew Abdo hold secret London meeting with IMG executives over NRL broadcasting

Record television ratings this season has now thrust the NRL into an incredibly powerful position heading into discussions.
There are genuine hopes that the new deal, given rugby league is now the No.1-watched sport in Australia,
could pull between $4b to $5b.

V’landys and Abdo have since taken key roles in talks for the NRL to take control of Super League for at least five years. A formal partnership with Super League would allow the NRL to bundle the Super League rights into the negotiations and provide more certainty around the World Club Challenge and the international schedule

Fantasy figures of 5 billion are only a pathetic joke.
The problem is that NRL only rates well in two states.
Companies want and need to advertise all over Australia to promote events and sell products nationwide, saturating two states with high TV numbers won't achieve the advertising outcomes needed. This is why AFL is worth much much more to the advertising and broadcast industry than the other game which is irrelevant to most Australians.
The advertising industry does not care if a particular NRL match outrages the competition because they know that in the other states nobody is watching. which means zero products sold in those markets.
Peter V has been boasting too much in recent years and the game will never live up to the massive hype he is generating. Everyone knows this except the big ( mouth) V

You are showing incredible ignorance here bugbear. The 3 biggest states in Australia are NSW, Vic and Qld. RL dominates NSW and Qld - over half the countries population.

The biggest advertising markets are Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Once again RL dominates. AFL has Melbon, the desert states and tiny Tassie. They massively lag behind the behemoths of Sydney, Brisbance, SE Qld, the Hunter and Illawarra.

Your bubble dwelling life precludes you from sensible debate buggy. Maybe educate yourself so as not to embarrass yourself further into the future.

Have a great day.

That’s good for the future of the AFL and not so the NRL, as the Code grows NSW and Qld as the NRL stagnates and slowly withers away means better advertising dollars for the AFL

The public purse funds start ups and running costs of teams!

The AFL team gets a sponsorship to play home games in another state of only a pittance of the amount and it has you lot up in arms like those coloured hair freaks at a protest.

Just think if the AFL got the public purse to fund and pay for the running costs of new teams. They would be decades more ahead than what they already are

The public funds start up and running costs of teams as they csnt get private investment and PVL doesn’t want to spend NRL money on it,

They are decades behind the AFL and the code is funding its new teams

Just believe and number PVL puts out and run with it! Hyperventilating can’t be good for that bubble
