Still find it surprising that so many Australians go to the AFL official site for their news. 👍

Where is the so called number 1 code, based on the rubbish spewed from Vlandys and the tv ratings average metric alone? lol
well maybe the NRL fans are busy trolling the Murdoch media for stories to debunk

I read that in Queensland Australian Rules now has more registered participants than Rugby League.
Maybe a bit generous with the figures but it does demonstrate the growth.
There are lies, damn lies and then there are ratings.
Rugby league, Australias most popular game in some of North Eastern Australia.

Wherever you read it it's BS pal. AFL types don't compare on a apples v apples comparison. Fumbling 'participants' in Qld include clubs, Auskick, Superkick, schools programs and any kid that has ever sighted a Sherrin. Most of the 'participants' don't play actual games of AFL. They go to babysitting services and do skills and drills. They will never tell you the actual number of players in season long competitions because they are so low.

They then compare that number to registered players playing for clubs in season long Rugby League competitions in Qld. Total BS. The total participants for RL when counted in the same way the AFL does including clubs, schools, gala days, Touch and Tag would be well over 200k in Qld. Dwarfing the fumbling game.

For further comparison the NRL says there are 42k 'participants' in Victoria, 33k in WA and 25k in SA. Like the AFL these numbers include clubs, schools, gala days etc. And they are also BS. But NRL folk aren't stupid enough to believe the BS. Seems your are pal.

Have a great day,

Yes, I think the women”s numbers have skyrocketed. Plus mist schools have an Aussie rules team/s. I may have to look up actual registered players though that play a season did a club as opposed to sat Auskick which for many is a school based programme or after school.

Good idea Fred. See if you can find numbers for registered players who play a full season of the actual game of AFL. Do your research and get back to me pal. Looking forward to your response.

Kind regards, Tezz.

Ah Terrible.
If you stopped looking in the mirror long enough to read what I posted you should have been able to comprehend that I did not accept the figures given, but did accept the increasing popularity of Australian Rules (not just a sport, but a statement) in Queensland, but self absorption is your strong point, not comprehension.

Go back to your mirror, one day you might realise it reflects nothing wortwhile.

AFL is growing in QLD it is true..

though these numbers via AFL Gee Wizz.

Counting school programs>>> etc etc

2 AFL Reps rock up to a school do a 45min school program on AFL, do 4 to 5 classes and go next school

It is smart and other codes should be Punching this in regularly

I rather them report registered players and then separately “participants”
To be fair the ARL/NRL also include things like touchball etc in their figures.

The latest figures for Adult Males in both codes for Queensland are:
Registered Players. Leagues…..teams
Australian Rules 30,000+ 10. 130
Rugby League 60,000+. 20 250

Bearing in mind that if some teams have a reserve side they are sometimes counted as 2.

But on these figures, Australian Rules not too bad, but aways to go.

pretty sure NRL split touch and Tackle in different ways.
and registered for Clubs is only tackle

In saying Tackle will never be high >> most athletes struggle with contact than having to work after>>
this also effects AFL stats too>> for its contact.. Imagen RL or RU

be interesting to see the latest reports AFL AND NRL>
