How has that worked out every contract previously?
Even during Covid Gill got the AFL a batter deal and PVL was laughed out of the building

most of the contracts over the pass 18 years have been very equal>>

this deal however stretches it and makes NRL's look small as AFL deal is to the end of 2031 (7 year deal and 19 teams)
NRL will do a deal to 2032 ( where you will get a like for like comparison )

All my reading is that the nrl are aiming to get closer to the AFL deal - which, I think, with the ratings, the women’s comp going well, soo etc. they should be getting more - particularly adding in inflation. But I guess there’s a lot I don’t know about how they value these things.

There doesn’t seem to be much available, as I haven’t been able to find the cost to advertise Melbourne vs Sydney vs Brisbane vs Perth metro regional etc

But the rate to advertise in Sydney would be far more expensive, than Perth due to potential of eyes to see the advertisement would be a large factor in the total figure of the broadcast deal. Seeing the nrl is the dominant code in NSW and Qld the potential dollar growth in expansion markets of Adelaide and Perth is far lower than the AFL in Sydney and Brisbane and Gold Coast etc

Throw in the NZ factor in some where in the middle

Melbourne was closing the gap on Sydney
NSW REGIONAL & QLD REGIONAL was worth more than SA & WA combined
Brisbane was ahead of Perth..

I suspect changes since, as PERTH has went BOOM in revenue.

thats my point with broadcast deals, the new teams, Perth and PNG wont really increase by much due to local markets. PNG has the population but a 3rd world

thats my point with broadcast deals, the new teams, Perth and PNG wont really increase by much due to local markets. PNG has the population but a 3rd world

though having Perth will increase TV (as its not far behind Brisbane)
PNG is totally different all together..
Streaming will be huge for the game and through Digicel Pacfic (even if fees are charged at $5.00 a month Min
its good coin for the NRL with the amount of subs they could receive
of course nothing of a level of Australia but every bit of coin helps.

they will play to packed stadiums and fans are massive in PNG
There loyalty to there team can be worth something to the NRL and will only increase long term.

having 19 teams also adds an extra game
and extra country
and extra state
