We own Australia with our own uniquely Australian game that has the 3 largest average attendances of any sport in the world. I'm more than content with that position.

Oh dear, look at the abysmal numbers for a live Rugby League test against a live Rugby Union match. Amazing figures for the Wallabies in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth too. Australians clearly prefer Rugby Union over Rugby League.

Why did Channel 9 even bother showing the Rugby League in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Abysmal figures in those cities and very disappointing in Sydney and Brisbane too.
Nine’s Rugby: World Cup: SF2 Nine New Zealand Vs. Australia 1,788,000 710,000 376,000 409,000 141,000 152,000

Trans-Tasman Rugby League Test 2011 Nine 943,000 460,000 113,000 292,000 32,000 48,000

a muck around warm up game V the most important game the wallabies have played in 8 years
1 million veiwers in the capitals ... & another 500K in the regionals ( so all up bigger then all bar 2 AFL games played this season )
including 193K veiwers watching in the sthn capitals ... pretty darn good figures considering

tell me
how many Swans Suns or Lions games would it take to get this many veiwers watching them in NSW & QLD
nearly a quarter of their entire season ?

& you're asking why Ch 9 bothers showing League in the Sthn States #-o ](*,)

a far more pertinent question is why anyone shows AFL in NSW & QLD
seriously .... it is embarrasing
the lack of progress the AFL has made in the last 30 years in NSW & QLD.. just continues to be advertised to all n sundry every week with the TV ratings

maybe the AFL should put an injunction on TV ratings for the Nthn States Beaussie
take oztam to court beaussie.. for the damage they're doing ? 8-[  :(/ :(/ :_<> :(/ :_<>
RL SOO II 4.194 Million veiwers
RL SOO I 4.068 Million
NRL GF 3.968 Million
VFL Grand Final 3.620 Million
SOO III 3.364 Million
NRL Prelim 2.219 Million
Kangaroos V NZ 1.214 Million

Sookerwhos V Japan 238K
