Re: NRL EXPANSION
The PNG NRL team was just officially announced for 2028
now
Ive been vehemently opposed to this team & have not agreed with any of it , dead set against it.
But money talks & bullshit walks
So i now see this team as I would a boyfriend or girlfriend for my children who I don't approve of , I just cop it
I have no say in it ... I cannot control it , its happening , so lets just get on with it.
The tax incentives will ensure they get a decent side on the field & everything builds from there I guess
https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australi ... 15c5&ei=21
PVL when asked about the Perth team indicated he expects to have an in principal agreement with the WA govt early in the new year , & that team is expected to be in before PNG.
NZ2 ( The Orcas ) playing out of Christchurch in black & white ... will be team 20 around 2031

Re: NRL EXPANSION
Interesting read
its good there is bi partisan support for an NRL team in Perth by both political parties , meaning the team is not dependent on the outcome of the election next month ,
Some of the financial detail needs to be sorted out. The figure of $320 mill needs to be clarified , the WA premier stating thats too much for one new team , but if that includes the upgrades to HBF park , increasing it to a 27K seat stadium then that benefits soccer & union as well, not just the NRL.
I think there is room for negotiation , a WA team is a big part of the NRL's plan to get to 20 teams so they can increase their media rights significantly & move the season format to a conference system , that will reduce the number of games played for players to assist with season overload , but increase the overall amount of content for broadcasters... so the NRL will be open to negotiate to get a deal done.

A election 2025: $320m price tag for Western Bears a ‘deal killer’
A $320 million price tag for WA to get its own rugby league team has been labelled ‘fanciful’ by Premier Roger Cook, who warned demands by NRL boss
Peter V’landys risked ‘killing’ the Western Bears deal.
However, he has not ruled ruled out a big cheque to secure a western team, saying: “It depends what the deal is and those discussions haven’t concluded.”
Mr Cook added that if the price tag was similar to a $320 million wish floated by Mr V’landys: “It’s a deal killer. The deal is off.”
In revelations in east coast media this week, the Premier reportedly had discussions with Mr V’Landys in the final days before caretaker mode started on February 5.
Liberal leader Libby Mettam declared on Thursday that she would not cut an expensive taxpayer-funded deal to secure a western team.
Ms Mettam seized on reports of secret talks, including demands for a $120m licence fee, grassroots investment and a $200m upgrade of HBF Park for a team facility to accuse the Premier of using taxpayers to “fund his hobby”.
”WA deserves a rugby team, but we should not be handing hundreds of millions of dollars to east coast businessmen to secure it,” she told The West Australian.
The Liberals would not rule out making some form of payment, but it is understood the stadium upgrades were deemed unnecessary, given rugby teams currently play games there, while no other team was required to pay licence fee.
Under a proposal to bring WA into the NRL, the North Sydney Bears would be relocated to Perth, and be rebadged as the “Western Bears”.
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Mr V’landys said the talks with the State Government had been “very positive”.
“I have been talking to the WA premier and I am very comfortable and confident with where we are at,” he said.
“I appreciate there is an election on (in Western Australia), but I’m confident after the election we will come to an arrangement.”
Calling the side “Roger’s Rugby Team”, Ms Mettam called for the Premier to be transparent over what funding he would commit to secure the Western Bears.
“WA Labor cannot treat voters as mugs – we deserve to know what has been promised to bring Roger’s Rugby Team to WA.”
WA Election 2025: Labor MP Paul Lilburne resorts to name-calling opponent
On Friday, Mr Cook ruled out a “blank cheque” but refused to be drawn on the proposed deal and whether voters deserved to know the details before the State election on March 8.
“We want to have a NRL team in WA, only WA can put the N in NRL, only WA can provide new eyeballs for the national competition,” he said.
“I like Peter V’landys, we’ve had great conversations, but if he thinks that Western Australians are going to be treated as second class NRL citizens, if he thinks we’re going to see a repeat of the Western Reds, he’s got another thought coming. The deal is off.
“The numbers I see today are ridiculous and the deal is off.”
Asked whether he should seek an election mandate for any proposed price, Mr Cook replied: “there’s no deal to put to the people of WA” yet.

Re: NRL EXPANSION
Libby Mettam
Has no idea what she is talking about..
The Money is literally funding A outdated rectangle stadium for multiple codes
and Grassroots and school programs for Rugby League
AFL get way more funding than this.. $$$$$
She is just scratching at anything to get a dart at MR COOKS Government as they have no hope of
making Government the Liberals in WA

Re: NRL EXPANSION
PVL just needs to tone down the rhetoric , the Stadium should not be a condition of entry , but should happen within a given time frame of say 5 years of entry , same as the mongball team in Tassie should be , rather then threats of no stadium built before hand , no team.leeroy*NRL* wrote: Fri Feb 14, 2025 2:38 pmLibby Mettam

you cant do 5 years of entry, its too much a disruption to there home games. (capacity massively reduced for 2+ plus years.azif wrote: Sat Feb 15, 2025 10:28 amPVL just needs to tone down the rhetoric , the Stadium should not be a condition of entry , but should happen within a given time frame of say 5 years of entry , same as the mongball team in Tassie should be , rather then threats of no stadium built before hand , no team.leeroy*NRL* wrote: Fri Feb 14, 2025 2:38 pmLibby Mettam

I think and Believe everything is fine with Negotiations (its all due to the election)
Cook is playing it down, does not want to much Heat on this situation leading into election..
once Labor is re elected in WA the ball will roll fast, real fast.. time will be off the essence for entry in 2027

Well, they're going to be disrupted anyway , they're not going to do much before 2026 & they're due to enter in 2027leeroy*NRL* wrote: Sun Feb 16, 2025 3:02 pmyou cant do 5 years of entry, its too much a disruption to there home games. Re: NRL EXPANSION
with speculation of NRL being involved with an English Super League Take over.
This Competition would improve massively within 10 years and
produce massive revenue for the NRL long Term.
make it happen.

The North Sydney Bears and NRL want a team funded by the WA taxpayers. When the team fails in WA like the Western Reds, the team can then be based solely in North Sydney. & what sport is stagnant... like a cesspool swamp ... the derping shit show from Vicdumboh
Cook has offered huge $$
The Bears will be an instant hit with the WA public ( every RL game played there in the last 20 years a sellout) ,
The NRL will show mongball how to expand properly , like they're showing them how to do everything else properly ATM

Re: NRL EXPANSION
excellent news re PNG & where they will play when they enter the NRL in 2028
At the larger 25K seat Sir Hubert Murray Stadium , rather then the smaller 15K seat Santos Stadium where the kummuls have played for quite a while now
It will be full for every home game too.

Hello OPTUS 1 Billion Dollar Stadium
NRL has asked for investments in Grassroots in Schools
$12mill per year.
The AFL gets $15mill per year for the exact and very similar thing.
