Wugbys Messiahs debut a bit underwhelming

Post by azif »

Their 2 million dollar man Joe Suallii

was solid , did what he was asked to do efficiently , his NRL experience coming to the fore.
But for all the bluster & sabre rattling about how much he's worth to the sport playing for them

RA would be bitterly disappointed with the turnout at Allianz last night
16,034( didn't look that big )
... they were hoping for twice that !!
& it didn't get into the top 30 TV shows either , lowest rating was 104K ....

a big flat fail on the overall interest scale
They won which will help , but their huge investment in one player is off to a shakey start

Suaalii's gotta be the most over-rated sportsmen in Oz at the moment. He was a good but not great RL player and he's about the same in the leather patch game. He sure ain't no Israel Folau. And the fact that he is the only RU player that gets any media coverage shows how low the code has got. The only way to get attention is to poach RL players.

they were getting around the 80's for 9's coverage last few seasons with NSW playing on the Saturday Night
which was on 9GEM

16k opening game though (very average)
