NFL coming to the Australia
Interesting read - would likely be week 1 of finals and AFL are on board and supportive. It will be packed to the rafters - I’m guessing a sellout - maybe 110 000 when configured for the game.

Re: NFL coming to the Australia
an Appalling venue to watch NFL on
the other rectangle codes ( soccer league & union ) are bad enough on the GGGGGG as it is
NFL is a considerably smaller field again
I guess the amount of money paid though will be enough to paper over what a 2nd rate venue the GGGGG is for rectangle sports though.

The record for an NFL game in the United States was 103,985 for the Super Bowl between the Pittsburgh Steelers and then-Los Angeles Rams at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., in January 1980. The largest crowd to watch any NFL game was 112,376 in a preseason matchup between the Cowboys and Houston Oilers in Mexico City in 1994.

Re: NFL coming to the Australia
reported $15mill plus for 1 game a season..
good deal or bad deal.
i think its a good deal overall
pitty on the stadium though, viewing experience will look average.
NFL stadiums the seats surrounding are right over the pitch
MCG we will be looking at 50 meters plus in all directions
almost like putting an ICE Hockey ring in the middle of an oval lol

Re: NFL coming to the Australia
holy hell that looks bad
15 million is a good coin for the Vic govt for 1 game , they'll get a lot of visitors for the game no doubt but it will not be a great experience for the attendees

Re: NFL coming to the Australia
While I think Accor is a sub standard venue as well , its at least rectangular..ish .. & can hold 82500
a far better venue for NFL games , & it has infact held one .. a pre season game back in the early 2000's
the NSW Govt has been caught asleep at the wheel here , this game absolutely should have been in Sydney.

Re: NFL coming to the Australia
From what I read, they are looking to utilise that spare grassed area as seating.azif wrote: Mon Feb 10, 2025 1:19 pmholy hell that looks bad

"The MCC is working on how it can maximise space on the ground around the edges of the rectangular playing field."
"We’ve seen overlays of the footprint and what the field is going to look like and there’s still a lot of planning to be done about how we fill in some space around the ground as well because we do have a huge amount of space on that ground.“

Anyone can make a big stadium
a Big Stadium with a good Viewing experience is key.

Not sure how - guess we will have to see if they can - and if they can - how.
