Some talk in support of rebuilding the Gabba. Know one even taking about mound Gravatt - cause it is such a ridiculous concept.

QSAC will not happen with LNP. The idea from the ALP was like you say ridiculous and very embarrassing. Will either see a new Gabba or I suspect Victoria Park with government, IOC and private funding.

Yeah QSAC is pretty much out - it’s either a new Gabba or Victoria Park - think there is only upside for Victoria Parl - the Gabba rebuild brings much more headaches - but it’s one of those two

so they re build the gabba & its smaller then QE2 :-k

       :(/ :(/ :(/

no one is building a 6 billion stadium at Victoria park , removing green space & demolishing a school either
the lunacy is palpable with these fumblers

the LNPs change to labors plan will be a new stadium at Mt Gravatt , not a refurb.
the opening & closing ceremonies of the games will still be centre pieces in the city ... at Suncorp stadium.

Should we have a friendly wager? I wil donate 20 dollars to a local charity out your way of your choice and you to one of my choice. I say a new stadium at Victoria Park or a rebuilt gabba - you say no new stadium - and if there is it will be at mount Gravett?

Gabba rebuild not wanted by the AFL, Lions or Cricket Australia.

well.....I did tell you fumblers ,
why rebuild a venue for several billion dollars ....that will be the same size as it is presently ?

was never happening
the choices now are an over spend at Victoria park that will get this LNP govt removed at the next election for costing too much , reducing green space & displacing 500 school students

or

a brand new venue at Mount Gravatt built for the Olympics , that will be a world class 50K seat venue afterwards.
It doesn't need to be in the city , thats a luxury QLD cannot afford , there is nothing wrong with Mount Gravatt , the Broncos played there for 10 years
1993-2002
& it was fine.
Job done

Okay. I would settle for a new state of the art stadium at Mount Gravatt anyway - as long as there is a new stadium somewhere. I still think Victoria Park will be the one though.

If you think voters are going to remember what happened in 2025 for the next election - just look to the States and them forgetting about Jan 6 and all the other fuck ups Trump's presidency brought with it.

Labor will remind them , trust me .... it will be campaign issue & the LNP will be well aware the decision they make now will have consequences for many years to come.
There is simply no legit reason to build at Victoria park other then vanity & being showy .... things that QLD can't afford.

Gabba is past its usefulness very soon. Creates all sorts of logistcal nightmares.

Placing a state of the art new stadium in the suburbs - we saw what happened to Waverley park. Would be a night mare to get to - but fine with me if that's what happens. If you are going to build a new stadium - why not build it in the best location. Makes no sense to build it out in Mount Gravatt. What about people coming from all over the city and surrounds getting there? And why there? That makes no sense - hwoever does not mean it will not happen the way things have been going. The two options seem to be either a rebuilt Gabba - which is fine - especially with cross river rail connecting a lot of things up - or victoria park - which has a rail line and major arterial right alongside it - a major advantage.

Seems we have some agreement that a new stadium will be built - just location. Does this then mean opening ceremony will be at the new AFL stadium?

the Gabba will be fine , til the Olympic stadium is built & used , so 2033 is when other sports can move in
Brisbane is not Melbourne

where do you think Accor Stadium is ?
26kms from the CBD in the burbs at Homebush , twice the distance Mt Gravatt is from Brisbanes CBD

why wouldn't you build in the best location ?
because it will cost 6 billion dollars ....reduce green space & a school gets demolished ... thats why

Mt Gravatt it is

& no
the new " cricket " stadium will not host the opening & closing ceremonies
The city will get these events next to the river at Suncorp
