Hmmm - let’s just say what you say is true - only family members / generations follow/pkay Australian rules - I think it still grows the base - you have one bloke from Victoria who moves up 100 years ago - has the 3 kids - all play Aussie rules - those 3 kids have 2 kids each - that 6 kids - 6 kids have 2 each - that’s 12 - you see where that is going. You just have to look at the gc - Aussie rules in schools, AFL goal posts in schools - or a combination of ar and ru/rl - large numbers playing in local teams - ca lack of Aussie rules ovals to accomodate growing numbers - once you get a critical mass - then others start getting influenced to play and support. I can tell you - your ra ra types on the Gold Coast with kids are having their kids wanting to play susdie rules amd when they come over they find it very well run - and note how amateurish and feral the rl is run. So it’s growing for sure at grassroots - which filters through to the amount of kids going on to play at elite level - just look at the suns playing list.


It’s like trumps/tucker Carlson”s “great replacement theory” except maybe there is something to this for sfl in qld lol. But at least the Trumpism of deny deny, refute and not accept runs strong with nrl deniers lol.

Brisbane traditionally gets 250K plus regardless

In Swineland their 2022 GF rated just 375K in the nations largest city , the lowest number to ever watch them in a GF
Sydney also rates around that 250K mark , which is weird for a city twice the size of Brisbane , but what it shows is there are a lot more sthn **** in Brisbane then there are in Sydney

i just went with 375k was for a flogging and thought it could hit 500k approx if swans win
and Lions have no Broncos to contend with this weekend (which took 95% of the spot light last year.

They still played Melbourne teams tho ...
I think with no vicdumoh teams , it will affect ratings ..everywhere ...negatively

Melbourisns, south Australians, west Australians, northern twtotoriams, and tasmanisns (AFL heartlands) are still going to watch no matter what as it’s a marquee event - even AFL fans in nsw and qld will watch because of this - it’s the non AFL types in nsw and qld they want to get watching that should build ratings in these areas.

these 2 teams have been in plenty of GF's , this aint new .. the fact that they're playing each other is not going to sway many more who would otherwise watch these 2 in the GF against anyone else , & many singletball fans in NSW & QLD who don't follow either of these 2 may not watch it as well

I think we agree. Both teams playing from non traditional areas will see usual high figures comparatively when that team plays in a grand final. But this time you’ll have two of those areas playing not 1. So should be cumulative higher then add in usual rating for AFL states that will watch anyway.

To be fair - PVL was asked a question and thought his answer was reasonable - and Azid has long talked about AFL way before this season and finals - I would go as far to say that he reads and searches for anything AFL than any AFL supporter here.
