Yeah touch is really popular sport re participation. Wouldn’t mind having a go myself. Pickleball is also becoming popular - really big in the states apparently. There’s a version of pickleball as well (called something different) I saw on the TV the other night.
It is , great for keeping people fit .. all ages .. from 10 to 60
there is no better option then touch ( our game without tackling ) in Australia

tag IMO is even better , a lot more passing ( ball playing ) then touch & some kicking so a game even closer to league

Yeah I hear your view - and that of the article. Both different which is fine.

So in addition to tackles and kicking being differenr - they also mention in the article that fields are half the size and there are three referees. Is that the case in touch in general or just in international touch rules?
Freddy boy,

Best way to describe Touch Footy is if AFL had a touch version of the game.

So no tackles and no behind posts..

It would still literally be AFL but with no contact and no points for missing.

touch and Tag is still under the umbrella of Rugby League.

Touch Footy has many different versions (of what kids adults prefer to play)
It is literally Rugby League with no contact or scrums..

I see what you’re saying Leroy -many ways to view it - but there are those within touch (as by tsar in their site) that see it as code in its own right - that it has evolved onto its ie. sport. And others saying it’s all the same - like 2o-29, 59 overs, test are all cricket. Alm makes for interesting - bit the again- sling those like ruby is a code and league is just an offshoot of that. Anyway time fir maccas fior me. .

League is no more an offshoot of union then the stumbles n misses is , the victorian fumbling game many say is just a mish mash of old english sports including union.

touch & tag are low contact variants of league
only a clueless idiot says different

touch is League without tackling end of

Most Athletes who play Tackle once there body is not up to it
they switch to touch or tag as it is not contact.

touch reminds me abit of how AFL to do warm up's in Training.
they will not tackle they will just kinda grab

it is more about, skill set (kicking) match fitness and drills / game plans.
without the contact.

like everything you love about rugby league you can play with out the thought of getting belted in a tackle

fumblers only ever grab , they wouldn't know what a proper tackle was ( puttiing your body in front & taking impact ) if it bit them in the ass
netballers are tougher
