The Myth that fumblers invented State of Origin Exploded

Post by azif »

It seems that infact , state of Origin is a Rugby League concept & the first game was played in PNG in 1945
some 32 years before fumblers claimed they invented it

Reading articles today , it seems Australian soliders stationed in PNG waiting to be sent home at the end of WII had a lot of down time & troops from NSW & QLD decided to play some games of rugby league.

Originally it was supposed to be games played between the states based on what base the players came from in the 2 states. But the troops approached their CO's & insisted the players properly represent their states & play for the state they were born in. The players knew Qlders enlisted in NSW & NSWshmen did the same in QLD & they wanted a proper state V state , mate V mate game
QLD won both games played.

wow =D =D =D =D
this historic trophy was only discovered recently & the history behind it confirmed ... It will make the trip to the MCG on Wednesday & be given its place in the games history.

State of Origin is a rugby league concept & belongs to our sport. :cool:

Nah

the first-ever intercolonial representative match, held on Tuesday, 1 July 1879 (a public holiday), at East Melbourne Cricket Ground. The final score was Victoria (represented by the Victorian Football Association) 7.14 to South Australia 0.3. The match was attended by more than 10,000 people.
There are lies, damn lies and then there are ratings.
Rugby league, Australias most popular game in some of North Eastern Australia.

oh...

you have a few more problems then just the fact that probably half were english immigrants you idiot ...
the fact no one has any idea where in fact these people started their lives or playing this weird little sport passing itself off as unique that only came around to keep cricketers fit during winter , & was mainly in fact a mish mash of rugby & soccer rules ...

unless you can document the .. fact .. to where these players were from for this game ... you have nothing
Military records from WII are of course much more accurate :wink:

State of Origin.. a rugby league concept :cool:
