AFL Canberra I understand were told to stay off Manuka Oval prior to the AFLW draw was released, just in case the Giants were drawn to play there. So AFL Canberra had to book the next best - Football Park in Woden AKA Phillip Oval. As it turned out they could have booked Manuka as the Giants first home game is the following weekend.

There will be a lot more than that. The CRRL may draw more people but that's only because Seiffort Oval has a bigger capacity. I can't find a figure for Football Park's capacity but it will fit a few thousand and that will be the crowd figure in my view. Plenty of interest. Should be a good game - Belconnen have given Queanbeyan their only loss for the season and Queanbeyan only won by 18 points in the second semi final after looking invincible earlier in the season.

The ACT has always been a good Aussie Rules town. I lived there for two years and umpired two Under 18 grand finals - both at Football Park. Very good standard.
Football Park Woden, capacity is listed in a couple of places as only 1,000.
That can't be right!! What are the sources? I've been there many times and it's bigger than that!! I would estimate about 4,000 from memory.

But, oddly enough, thats listed as being in Phillip….close but not woden.
Looks decent but I cant find a capacity any where, the facilities do look a bit better than woden park.
I thought we were done.

Broadcasters say they fear the AFL’s two expansion clubs – the Gold Coast Suns and Greater Western Sydney – are “going backwards” a decade on from their formation.

Ratings have declined and crowds have not increased.

but somehow Members have increased lol (go figure)

Lol something the RL people have known & been saying for ages .
Yet so many just believe AFLOL house with their talk of how well things are going ..Howthe “Participation numbers” are signs of great growth or to use the leaders own lies taking over .
Good to see when you read some comments on other forums that quite a few have woken up to the propaganda.
But still there’s those so brainwashed …so far into the cult hi PETEY they believe it’s all true .

I think the Suns are maintaining their position when they are not doing very well.
I would be greatly concerned with the status of GWS.

yeah i would agree, i think the Suns have expanded there footprint as in Grassroots and development

but have still struggled for crowds. and for Networks Ratings have fallen for the club..

GWS however WOW if it were not for playing in Canberra they would be in dire straits

AFL house will never admit GWS struggles in Western Sydney. Is is bit like the AFL China exhibition matches.
There was virtually nobody of Asian descent of the small crowd in the stadium of the few people at all.. Yet AFL kept claiming it was a roaring success exposing the game to a billion plus people lol...

At least when Rugby League tried with the Wolfpack in Canada. The locals actually turned up to the game.
