Melbourne Storm V Sydney Roosters
This Friday night @ AAMI park
OMFG what a game we have in store here
both making emphatic statements about their credentials for this years premiership this weekend
Storm 60-12 over the Broncos at Suncorp
Roosters 72-6 over the Tigers at the SCG
both coming in off solid winning streaks , the game is critical for the Storms top 4 aspirations & for the Roosters a loss would put them in danger of missing the 8 altogether
the 2 most successful teams in the NRL era
no fumbles .. or anything else .. on down there this weekend so a sellout crowd is almost assured
should be close to the game of the year
wow
just wow

With apparently, the biggest membership base in the NRL, made up of thousands of free memberships - you’d think the NRL and Storm would shift the game to the bigger capacity Marvel Stadium. Assured sellout yeah… well I mean if just their free membership members show up, that’s a guaranteed larger crowd than AAMI Park’s capacity.

Yeah, assured surely, in light of how you have described the hype, match up and circumstances in your OP.truthbomber wrote: Sun Aug 21, 2022 12:33 pma sellout at bigger venue eh ?Beaussie wrote: Sun Aug 21, 2022 12:20 pmWith apparently, the biggest membership base in the NRL, made up of thousands of free memberships - you’d think the NRL and Storm would shift the game to the bigger capacity Marvel Stadium. And let’s not forget the thousands of free Storm membership members out there. Storm fans don’t even need to pay to ensure a bigger crowd than AAMI Park’s capacity. Would not be a sellout in the sense of tickets sold of course, but you get the drift yeah.
We’re all set and eager to bear witness to this massive blockbuster in the Victorian capital and home of sport.

i dont agree with Storm giving free memberships away as legit. Punter pays for Home game membership 2021 (In return gets no games to watch)
club says sorry this was out of our hands, we will give you the membership which you "payed for and roll it into 2022"
Now Just because the AFL clubs could not afford to do this (is why they did not do this)
In fact The Storm have given up extra money by doing this.
Storm were applauded for doing so.
imagen an AFL club doing this.. they wouldn't & didn't

And still less bums on seats than the SCG minus the SCG members (and those stands didn't hold 15,000 last I checked - free to be proven wrong with a link) who by the way did pay for food and drink which all goes to revenue.truthbomber wrote: Sun Aug 21, 2022 7:46 pmlets not mention the 15K SCG members who helped the swines sellout the SCG last week who paid...... zip to get in.Beaussie wrote: Sun Aug 21, 2022 1:21 pmYeah, assured surely, in light of how you have described the hype, match up and circumstances in your OP.

Re: Melbourne Storm V Sydney Roosters
who gives a damn if they helped the swans sellout. - never mind that some of the members area at the SCG are joint SCG/Swans members areas too. Point is they came.truthbomber wrote: Sun Aug 21, 2022 7:46 pm

And if you really want to get picky about - the Swans absolutely smash all comers in Sydney for gate and membership revenue by so far its not even funny.
Good for the Storm if they can fill the venue. I dont believe it matters how people get to a match or how much they pay. I believe it matters if they are there.

Totally agree. If Storm can fill their stadium in Melbourne good on them I say. I’m all for free memberships - to promote the game and get people along is the key - particuarly in a town where many still refer to it as rugby

Re: Melbourne Storm V Sydney Roosters
Saw this and thought it was. Funny.
https://www.neds.com.au/blog/2022/05/st ... about-AFL/
There’s a Melbourne one too
https://www.neds.com.au/blog/2022/05/st ... about-nrl/
Note the difference in the people interviews - the attitude of those in Melbourne (either never heard of Storm or had no issue) as opposed to the bogans in the nrl one. Quite a stark difference. Wonder if it wax just edited that way ? Just no chip on the AFL people commenting - as nrl not a threat - but notable need to put AFL down and belittle it by nrl commentators. Interesting indeed.
