PVL is the one who keeps bringing up the AFL.

Its a bit like you guys being obsessed with it.

Its amusing
The only reason he keeps bringing it up is because he likes jokes. Yes, I agree, it is exactly the same for us. We enjoy a good joke and Gil and the AFL are jokes . Gil is a very amusing guy.

Gil doesnt even have to respond. Crowd on Sunday arvo for an in season home and away game will be more than likely be bigger than any attendance at any NRL Grand Final since 2001.

Haha… funny because it’s true :(/

I think when you have one of the biggest announcements for your sport and you try to have a dig at another sport - I'd say that's living rent free in your head.
I would say it is a poor attempt at trying to deflect a massive backdown.

Spot on.

It will be so hilarious to see a pissed off NSW Government, cut all funding for NRL suburban grounds and so called centres of excellence, which is in the hundreds of millions of NSW taxpayer dollars. Good luck making up that shortfall by flogging off the grand final V’Landys.

Humiliating for V’Landys

Footy supremo Peter V'landys jokes the NRL grand final is going to Melbourne before being forced into HUMILIATING backdown as year's biggest game stays in Sydney

The 2022 NRL grand final will be played at Accor Stadium in Sydney
It comes after Peter V'landys lobbied to move the game to Brisbane
It's a humiliating backdown for the ARL Chair after a stadium stoush

By KRISTY WILLIAMS FOR DAILY MAIL AUSTRALIA
PUBLISHED: 13:52 AEST, 18 August 2022 | UPDATED: 15:01 AEST, 18 August 2022

Footy supremo Peter V'Landys has been forced into a humiliating retreat, announcing the NRL grand final will remain in Sydney despite publicly lobbying against the NSW Government since April.

The war began in April, when V'landys fired an ominous warning to Perrottet that rugby league's biggest showpiece could head to Queensland for a second consecutive year.

The NRL was at loggerheads with the state government over funding for suburban grounds, with V'landys openly critical of the decision to back down from a $800million upgrade of Accor Stadium.

It led to threats to take the 2022 grand final to Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium, but V'landys will now have his tail between his legs as he heads back to NRL HQ.

Ah beatup, you're such a dill! Peter The Great wasn't humiliated...........it's the exact opposite pal. Rugby League and Peter The Great have delivered a new SFS (that we didn't need) Commbank at Parra (which is a great stadium) and are getting a new one at Penrith. Plus multiple centres of excellence for clubs and communities. Yep, Rugby League clubs and communities. All in the past few years. Over a billion$ in investment. Probably a couple a billion$.

The problem for PTG is that he was too successful! Folk are jealous (look in the mirror you'll see one) lololololol!!!! And after a pandemic (in which PTG saved Australian sport including your fumbling) plus floods and other issues money is now a tad scarce. So a few promises have been put on the back burner. In the next year or so they'll be back on. That's how it works.

And of course PTG has come out swinging because Perrottet has reneged on an agreed deal. Poor form form Dom. But under the circumstances fully understandable.

Long may Peter The Greats reign continue. He loves Rugba League. And fumble folk have meltdowns about him lolololololol.......funny stuff!!!!

Well that's an admission of the greatness of Peter The Great! It ain't luck pal. It's purpose. It's a driving ambition. It's love of Australia's most watched sport. Peter The Great is on the move pal. He's taken on Vic's racing industry and flogged 'em. He's Australia's best administrator. Hands down. No argument.

How is it a massive back down? Many of the clubs have new stadiums or upgrades . Maybe not all but he has got an extra $8m out of them and has put himself in a position to do similar in future years.

Its apparent who's jealous and envious of a well run organisation

It was luck. You can spin it all you want. And he also lost to the VRC. No one can touch the Melbourne Cup! His ambition is totally misplaced and as a result the GF almost went to Brisbane. Almost.

Time will tell. The NSW Premier is now under intense pressure from his own ministers to cut all NRL taxpayer funding.

best he just lick his wounds & accept he got done by Australian sports best administrator

it will all to be reinstated early next year anyway when parrotturd is tossed out of Govt in a landslide that the NRL will openly contribute to... if he pulls funding to the states biggest sport , biggest by the length of the straight at Randwick too.
Vlandys , the ARLC & our 11 NSW based clubs will be on the campaign trail 5 minutes later if he does

You are either delusional or related to V’Landys. How you could view this as a victory for the NRL is is beyond belief. Public sentiment is definitely not with the NRL when you see comments across many varied media outlets. Overwhelmingly negative in fact. And what’s to stop any future NSW government from just bidding for the NRL grand final like other states and providing no additional stadium upgrades or grassroots development funding grants. It’s not like any other state government is going to offer more than that.
