I think 60000 is a pretty good number - could it be better - probably - but it is not too bad either.

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings
i recan it is a good figure.
the difference with ch7 and ch9 agreements.
you know each week ch7 will have home teams on FTA
where as the Storm it could be a whole month before they are on FTA.
it is hard to build a pattern with the storm, as with the swans lions you can build a pattern

Thursday Night NRL Live was the #1 live streamed program yesterday against all broadcasters, recording a total TV audience of 647k viewers (metro: 382,000, regional: 216,000, Live + BVOD: 49,000 +56% YoY)
49k extra viewers via 9 stream (always a handy lift each FTA game)

Not in Melbourne though with the local team featuring in a top of the table NRL clash.truthbomber wrote: Fri Aug 12, 2022 5:34 pmjesusleeroy*NRL* wrote: Fri Aug 12, 2022 4:24 pmThursday Night NRL Live was the #1 live streamed program yesterday against all broadcasters, recording a total TV audience of 647k viewers (metro: 382,000, regional: 216,000, Live + BVOD: 49,000 +56% YoY)

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings
the swines rarely get anymore then 60K on FTA in Sydney , either on secondary or mainBeaussie wrote: Fri Aug 12, 2022 2:09 pmGood grief, just 60,000 Melbourne viewers in prime time on Channel 9, Thursday night with no AFL to compete with and a top of the NRL clash that the Storm absolutely dominated in to win. Eek
And Swans more popular on TV in Sydney than Storm in Melbourne is a given. Thanks for sharing Wookie.
I really hope Channel 10 gets the AFL rights and promotes it like they love the footy. Channel 7 good riddance.
( last time when up against no NRL during origin in late June & on the main channel they got 65K )
the difference being
Storm fans in Melb mainly watch their team on STV ( Storm are the most watched team of any sport in Aust on pay tv) & it becomes a habit if you do this regularly
last nights game was watched on STV by a staggering 517K people
I'd say 60K of them were in Melb
you don't need to pay to watch the swines , they're on FTA every game
life in Sydney is expensive
so why pay for something you don't need to , thats right.. you wouldn't
30K watching the swines on STV in Sydney when they rate 60K on FTA
so again
the Storm are watched by more people in Melb , then the swines are in Sydney

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings
Channel 7 provides no promotion of AFL games in Sydney and chops and changes between the primary channel and 7mate on a regular basis too. Very frustrating and the main reason why I want Channel 10/Paramount to win all the AFL rights or at the very least a share of the rights.leeroy*NRL* wrote: Fri Aug 12, 2022 2:43 pmi recan it is a good figure.

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings
Here we go again with your bullshit, no evidence line of thousands of Storm fans watching NRL on STV. What crap. Last week the Storm home crowd was 10k in Melbourne. That’s evidence of the Storm’s appeal in Victoria. Pathetic aye.truthbomber wrote: Fri Aug 12, 2022 5:42 pmthe swines rarely get anymore then 60K on FTA in Sydney , either on secondary or mainBeaussie wrote: Fri Aug 12, 2022 2:09 pmGood grief, just 60,000 Melbourne viewers in prime time on Channel 9, Thursday night with no AFL to compete with and a top of the NRL clash that the Storm absolutely dominated in to win. crowds are an indicator of popularity in Melb for the Storm
but
TV ratings aren't for the swines in Sydney

facts are
Storm , most watched team of any code , thats , any code on STV
Swines .. all games on FTA
so when comparing the 2 on TV in their home markets
the above must be considered
Storm win

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings
yes but, the addition of FTA coverage to these 5 games will increase their ratings & therefore the aggregate total & the average

your exact same thoughts is why many league fans including myself wanted channel 10 to buy the NRL rights.
channel 9 and channel 7 take it for granted it feels like
Brisbane Lions are on 7mate tonight
if there was no NRL they would be on primary channel 7

Yep both Channel 9 and 7 have become stale with their football broadcasts.
Channel 9 has AFL programs such as The Sunday Footy Show and Footy Classified shown twice weekly. The so called home of footy, Channel 7 has….. ?
