Latest on the

broadcast deal negotiations ..
"Seven and Foxtel at loggerheads over live matches in AFL-mad markets Adelaide and Perth"
Since 2002, all teams outside Victoria must be broadcast on free-to-air, regardless if Foxtel.

This is just fumbleball propaganda desperately trying to pump the ugly mess of a game. You read it here first.
Well folks, it looks like I've had my finger on the pulse yet again re the next fumbling TV deal. The Aus newspaper is reporting today that seven and foxtel "is the most likely option though, it means Mr McLachlan has failed so far to generate significant interest from international media companies....." lolololololololol!!!!!
So once again it was all smoke and mirrors from fumblehouse, Gilty and the boys lolololol!!!! And beatup and the feeble fumble fans here took it hook, line and sinker. Dills.

Re: Streaming companies want to broadcast AFL
The AFL is trying to entice Seven West Media and Foxtel to up their bids for television rights to as close to $600m annually as possible, in an effort to keep the incumbent broadcasters in place until at least 2029 and as ViacomCBS-owned Network Ten considers a potential knockout bid for all free-to-air and streaming rights to the code.
Seven and Foxtel have indicated they are keen to maintain their rights, and discussions have begun regarding what mechanisms could be used to entice either party to raise their bids

Re: Streaming companies want to broadcast AFL
This part of the article just doesn't make sense. The AFL apparently want seven and Fox to get the next rights deal but then it mentions a 'potential' knockout bid for 2029 from CBS. No one would have a clue what could play out between now and 2029. The whole scene could change. It's nonsensical BS.leeroy*NRL* wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 11:53 amThe AFL is trying to entice Seven West Media and Foxtel to up their bids for television rights to as close to $600m annually as possible, in an effort to keep the incumbent broadcasters in place until at least 2029 and as ViacomCBS-owned Network Ten considers a potential knockout bid for all free-to-air and streaming rights to the code.

I would say Gilty has bummed out with trying to get anyone else interested in the next deal. He's now just bullshitting and begging seven and Fox for more money. Lets see how this plays out. Whatever happens you can bet your last dollar whatever is announced will be more BS than truth i.e. typical fumble ball propaganda.

Re: Streaming companies want to broadcast AFL
is that a veiled threat by the aflol to Ch 7 & Foxtel ( the only parties interested in broadcasting their sport)
that if they don't cough up some more coin then they're currently offering
hang on
didn't someone say the offers are already in & they're not great
oh yea
that was me
that if they don't find some more then they will not get the rights in 2029 & they'll go to 10/ paramount
( ya know , the mob that were supposed to be offering 3 billion for this deal )
Murdoch doesn't like being threatened
Yea , that'll end well

its based on ... they're being
no other bidders
hence no bidding tension
hence no reason for the current broadcasters to pay much more then they are now ( what they've been saying all along )
they have the aflol over a barrel ..
its not broadcasters needing to chase the aflol this time , theres no one else
take what we're offering or eff off
old gil the dill is trying desperately to find some way to get a few more $$ out of the the deals on the table
Thursdays
a night GF
foxtel getting more exclusive games in SA & WA
but even those won't add much more
so its
bye bye big deal ... bye bye

Re: Streaming companies want to broadcast AFL
Further to that. Channel 10 and 9 are wanting the AFL. Nine would want an AFL and NRL double on Thursday nights to dominate nationwide.leeroy*NRL* wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 11:53 amThe AFL is trying to entice Seven West Media and Foxtel to up their bids for television rights to as close to $600m annually as possible, in an effort to keep the incumbent broadcasters in place until at least 2029 and as ViacomCBS-owned Network Ten considers a potential knockout bid for all free-to-air and streaming rights to the code.

Channel 7 want to take this all seriously and not just assume a joint 7/Fox/Kayo deal is a given.
According to News Corp’s The Australian, the AFL wants Seven and Foxtel to increase their bids to as close to $600 million annually to keep them as rights holders until 2029, but Network Ten is considering blowing them out of the water with an offer for both the free-to-air and pay TV rights.
West Aussies could be forced to pay to watch Eagles and Dockers matches under a Foxtel proposal.
One option on the table, the publisher wrote on Monday, is for Foxtel to broadcast more live games of Perth and Adelaide’s local teams - both AFL mad cities.
That would mean supporters of the West Coast Eagles, Fremantle Dockers, Adelaide Crows and Port Adelaide Power would no longer view their beloved teams on Seven, and instead be forced to fork out for Foxtel.
Meanwhile, Nine is reportedly after a package of Thursday night games but the AFL is believed to be opposed to splitting the rights across more than two broadcasters.
But that all depends on how much is offered.

Re: Streaming companies want to broadcast AFL
ch 7 won't like losing their exclusive games in WA & SA .. theres 4 teams
88 games
maybe ... 10 million viewers in total in those states altho some will still be on FTA so maybe 7 Million each year or 35 million over the life of the deal
whos compensating them ?
no one ...
so why would they be paying a lot more .... oh
thats right
they won't
bye bye big increase
bye bye

Re: Streaming companies want to broadcast AFL
what ?
haven't they done that already ?
600 mill a year .... theres been much lube & many tissues used & thrown in the bin based on that dopey
why are the aflol even bothering ... " trying" to get Ch 7 & foxtel closer to that amount ?
600 mill is an amazing offer
but we are meant to believe we have the aflol supposedly going
yea
ahhhhh
hmmmmmm
I'll tell you why
there is either no bid at all from paramount / 10
or if there is ... its not within cooee of 600 mill pa & is more likely around what Ch 7 & foxtel have offered.
450 mill..
the Aflol have worked out if thats the offer they may as well stay with their incumbents & try & suck a few more $ out if they can ...
bye bye big increase
bye bye
