Yes, the month of July is “kids go free” at all AFL games. Been like this for a couple of seasons - even pre Covid I think.

Plenty of ex pats in the crowd.
Plenty of generational local Queenslanders in the crowd !
Winning on the field and winning over more fans.

It was front page of the Gold Coast Bulletin truthbomber.
So what do you think about that?
That's big time I think.

Re: Battle of the Gold Coast - Suns vs Titans
State of Origin and the Storm have been on the front of the AGE and Herald in Melbourne, its a headline that is all.
and put on the front as it was ground breaking at the time.
a 40 point comeback which is miracle territory (a comeback of the ages) was worthy of front page news.

Origin is bigger than a grand final so of course its going to get front page news everywhere.
The Suns was just a normal regular season game.
When the Storm get front page of the Herald Sun for winning a regular season game then you can compare but I don't think that will be happening anytime soon.

i am pretty sure Storm have been on Front page outside of Grand Finals. and 2010 Salary cap scandal.Pete__09 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 11:14 amOrigin is bigger than a grand final so of course its going to get front page news everywhere.

(for a win by the suns) in QLD it does not get much bigger than this in a H&A season (it deserved front page Headline)
i would say it was there best win ever, if they were not gonna get Front Page than they never would

It is not uncommon for the Suns to be on the front or back page of the Bulletin. They also have the occasional middle page spread.

You're easily impressed pal lololol!! I mean, its a little regional newspaper. Its nothing like the Syd or Melb papers. Today it had a picture of a junior Rugby League player on the front page. How impressive is that?
These regional newspapers always struggle for content. They'd put a picture of a fat lady juggling while standing on one leg if they had to. And that ain't impressive lololol!

Re: Battle of the Gold Coast - Suns vs Titans
its not impressive at all , The aflol are well known for ... buying .. content , stories etc certainly in NSW & QLD to pump up the tyres of its failing expansion clubs
hasn't worked .. people just flip straight past the " pay for comment" section & go straight to the stuff they're interested in
namely RL

Yes, plenty of people who once never followed footy :Aussie rules) who have converted. I would see it at the club my son played at. A lot of kids would come over from Rl to try it out - some would go back the next year some would stay on. In speaking to the parents what they found was that the AFL ran it well and the local Rl comp was a bit of a mess. These were professional people so appreciated the peofessionalism. What they also found was watching their sons play gave them a better understanding of the game and had come to enjoy it more not just when watching their kids but when watching an AFL game also. Didn’t mean they hated Rl just meant they’d come to appreciate Aussie rules as well. Unlike some here, it doesn’t have to be one or the other.
