for what ?
the aflol has no new content & is being beaten to death by the NRL for viewers
Thursdays regularly
no more guarantee of non vic teams on fta ( watch the code die in NSW & QLD in 10 years ) & an exclusive numb of STV games
twlight GF ..
the above & you might get a tiny increase
416 to 435-440 mill max
The NRL will introduce an 18th team & 9th game in 2026.. 25 extra games all going to STV & their deal off the back of continued growth in ratings will go up to 455 -460 mill
wow
Thats why.
heres a little lesson on how these things go down so for once in your life pay attention because we leaguies have seen all this crap before
just because broadcasters " say" they're interested in something someone else has doesn't mean they really are ,
they will say they are in an attempt to put pressure on their competitors to pay overs for rights under the threat they'll lose them if they don't.
Anyone thinking channel 9 is interested in the aflol's rights when they have already committed to the NRL til the end of 2027 is a bafoon & its a perfect example of the above
Ch 9 can't show the aflol in prime time in NSW/ACT or QLD because they have the NRL on instead. So they cannot maximise their investment so the cost can't be justfied. Its a furphy.
The same stunt 7 pulled on 9 with the NRL rights ... " oh , we want em " they said , but in reality they never did & 9 knew this simply because of 7's position. It would be a stupid move.
the streaming companies & their partners want their competitor foxtel to pay overs for the aflol as well , but its just posturing & there is no real interest , Paramount USA have already said they want to cut costs by up to 250 mill pa across all operations , so fat chance there will be any real bid coming from them or anyone else.
Ch 7 have said they won't pay much more then they do now
Foxtel the same
big increase coming ?
don't think so fumbler , don't think so

Re: Streaming companies want to broadcast AFL
Although I believe that 9 are only testing the waters, they could do 2 or 3 on a Saturday, 1 on a Sunday and there is still talk of Monday night games. All without directly competing with the NRL.Quolls2019 wrote: Wed Jun 22, 2022 8:16 pmOnly time will tell.truthbomber wrote: Wed Jun 22, 2022 5:36 pmBut.. is there fumbler ?Quolls2019 wrote: Wed Jun 22, 2022 8:11 am

Re: Streaming companies want to broadcast AFL
Hopefully with all the various broadcasters interested, the AFL secures a big pay day.
Sources who could not be named because they were not authorised to speak said the meetings were not focused on specific dollar amounts. The current rights run until the end of 2024 for both Seven and Foxtel, which are contracted to pay the AFL an aggregate of $946 million over 2023 and 2024. Foxtel pays the larger share and is increasingly transitioning matches to its growing streaming arm, Kayo.
Senior club and AFL insiders have told The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald that they favour Foxtel and Seven, although there is a view that Paramount-Ten could make the largest financial offer. Either way, the insiders say, the intense competition for the rights ensures that the code will remain the country’s biggest for broadcast dollars and the AFL will gain a sizeable increase.
Nine, the owner of this masthead, was also invited and presented their credentials to the AFL leadership in Melbourne. The network has grown since Nine last held a share of the AFL rights between 2002 and 2006, adding to its stable the streaming service Stan and radio stations in Melbourne (3AW), Perth (6PR), Sydney (2GB) and Brisbane (4BC).
Nine already broadcasts the NRL, the AFL’s major competitor, in a deal that stretches until the end of 2027, while Stan broadcasts rugby union.
Each of the free-to-air networks broke down how they could broadcast, with games divided between free to air, alternative channels and streaming services such as 9Now and 7plus.
Sources confirmed that Paramount, which owns CBS in the United States and has recently paid billions for the streaming rights to cricket’s Indian Premier League, still wanted to win the entire rights package – free and pay. It did not wish to win the rights and then sell off particular slots, such as Friday or Saturday nights, as had been speculated.

ohh the Shock
well of course they are & it was never going to be anything else as I have been telling these deluded fumblers for some time now ..
no one else is or ever was " genuinely" interested & the competitive tension never existed
7/ foxtel know this
the aflol will get a GDP increase of around 5% & thats it & even for that they will have to bow even further to broadcasters.
nice try fumblers
nice try

same article literally says that Paramount/Ten are very keen and expected to lodge a higher bid.
You are an idiot. And will be wrong, just like every fucking league guy has been since 2002 when it comes to the AFLs media rights. No doubt someone else will be to blame this time too.

im sticking with CH7 and FOX with 120 - 140mill Price RISE over term of DEAL (If deal is 5 years)
and DEAL will favour FOX with more Exclusive Games Per Year.

(maybe yes maybe no)
Paramount ANZ denies report CBS “is tipped” to sell off 10
Paramount ANZ has responded to reports CBS will sell 10 in the coming years.
On Tuesday, The Australian reported the US media giant is planning on offloading the Australian TV network for $250million after buying the business back in 2017.
However, a Paramount spokesperson denied the report, telling Mediaweek: “The article published in The Australian titled “CBS tipped to offload Network 10” is inaccurate and misleading.
“Paramount has no plans to sell Network 10,” they added.
According to the publication, CBS has been using the Australian TV network as a launching pad for the Paramount+ streaming servicing. When the platform, which has been gaining subscribers, is established, the media giant will sell off the TV Station, The Australian reported.
The publication noted that the bigger question is if CBS first buys Southern Cross Media, which 10 has an affiliation deal with over two years from which it generates $38 million from.
Southern Cross Media’s TV unit has been on the market but the sales process is reported to be off after receiving below expectation offers from potential buyers. The company’s valuable businesses are the Triple M and Hit networks.
The publication also noted that like consolidating with traditional broadcasting companies could make 10 more attractive to a buyer when and if CBS choses to sell the business.
In addition to 10’s deal with Southern Cross Media is its $200 million deal with Australian Professional Leagues, signed last year.
This five year deal could be attractive incentive to a potential buyer as the network broadcasts all A-League and W-League matches on 10 and Paramount+.
Back in February, 10 ViacomCBS officially re-introduced itself to the world as Paramount ANZ following the international name change to its parent company.
Since the rebrand, Paramount have pulled together campaigns that include the world’s tallest hologram, the Southern Hemisphere’s largest drone and light show, and campaigns that appeal across generations.
