AFL on FOX is really second fiddle to NRL this year.
IF FOX PAY MORE THEY MUST HAVE GUNS TO THERE HEAD
Unless ratings isnt the primary measure. Fox would know the number of unique viewers they have tune in and what they watch. Its entirely possible that ratings dont reflect the subscription picture accurately.
if you look at FOX LEAGUE and FOX FOOTY

League rates higher
Streaming and STV are the highest of measures being that it is LIVE

it is true we do not have the entire picture..

I think Fox pay more for other reasons over and above ratings - I think the air time AFL fills is also an important factor. Can't really think of any others. The whole " gain subscriptions in AFL markets" doesn't seem to have materialised.
numbers on STV mean subscriptions , the main way $$ are earnt
different to FTA where it is advertising $$

if your deal is not set up to " force " fans to subscribe then it doesn't work as efficiently as it could .
If you live outside Victoria then why would you subscribe at all if you follow any of the 8 teams not in Victoria

you get every game for those 8 clubs on FTA
This won't please foxtel & they won't pay more until it is fixed

If it is fixed
Ch 7 will say they lose out , & they won't pay more
its a right pickle

enjoy
Damn, I think you have a point,
If you barrack for the Suns, and only the Suns, live on the Gold Coast, and every game is broadcast live on the Gold Coast, there is no reason to subscribe to PTV. Or, come to think of it, go to the game if the forecast is for rain.
Thuns fans don't even go to games when the sun is blazing fumbler

like it did on Sunday

Fox does have adds during breaks. about 30 extra minutes, 9matches over a season that a lot of time for advertising and to keep sponsors happy.
Australia's number 1 sport RUGBY LEAGUE. Preferred by more Australians than any other

Thanks for that oh great bumsniffer! Could you now please explain to the uneducated proletarians what the other 'measures' are with particular reference to the 'primary' one. And maybe give a short recitation as to the importance or otherwise of ratings.

Thanks in advance for spending time with the great un-washed. We are eternally grateful for the scraps you throw at us!!! You most certainly are a man of great importance and immeasurable intelligence.

They all also running banner adds after some goals I saw on the weekend - at bottom of the screen.

I don't think that is too bad - it is a very minor sport in Victoria and you see soccer and netball rating the same or worse - and they are much bigger. Agree, it was a Thursday night, prime time, no AFL up against it.

Don't get too excited AFL lovers, the match still would have pulled in 900k once all viewers were counted, in what was quiet a one sided match.
