its laughable to suggest ch 10 will be the FTA carrier ( there has to be one under anti syphoning laws ) for the drops & oopsies next deal from 2025

they're broke
like , broke

but please , continue the fairy tales

I read 10/paramount are possibly wanting the whole package and to screen mainly on paramount and across the 10 FTA channels. So one broadcaster owning the lot? Can’t see Fox letting that happen.

same rubbish was touted about the NRL & its rights , was never happening . Just stories to create tension. Foxtel are smart operators & can smell BS

10 were broke
They are now owned by Paramount.
Paramount are a long way from being broke.
Paramount/10 spent quite a bit of money (overs) on Soccer, that hasn't worked well.
They will be still looking be looking for a product to promote their streaming service and to get viewers back to 10.
They will be a player in the new negotiations and will not be the only new entity to put in a bid. Perhaps even a consortium of services.
It may be a case of not how much the new players are willing to pay to get AFL, but how much Foxtel and 7 are willing to pay to keep it.

Personally, I miss Channel 10 broadcasting the footy. Sounds like with CBS/Paramount backing, they’re serious about getting the footy back and Channel 7 and Foxtel will need to stump up more cash if they want to keep the jewel of Australian sports broadcasting rights. I know I would dump Kayo instantly with no AFL.

Lots of interest from many media players is a good thing.

Foxtel will definitely need to pay more to stay in the negotiations… that much is certain.

paramount bought into a dog , an underperforming failing network that has not performed any better under their ownership , they are costing their american owners tens of millions per year.

I can just see the silly little exec from ch 10 ( a deluded vicderpian no doubt ) flying to the USA to share his brain wave with his masters in LA

so...
how about we spend over 400 million PA for the rights to the foody

the foody ?

yea , the foody .. ya know , australias national game .. thats .... only popular in half of australia

Not often I agree with youth, but paramount did buy into a dog….deliberately..major mistake was soccer…will not make that mistake again

Will go after AFL, probably the lot.. might on sell a couple of games a week.. more FTA games than now,,,but the big games on stream…might not get there but foxtel and seven will need to pay mega dollars to keep it the way it is.
Paramount is not the only US company interested…Disney..espn…

Don’t agree, most AFL games are now behind a paywall with foxtel. I think that any new deal would most likely have a near even number of games on FTA, but the big games on stream that may be decided say 4 weeks in advance,

the games at current are partially behind a paywall..

you can still see the game in some states just not all and vice versa with other games.

they are not 100% exclusive behind paywall like NRL on FOX (with 5 exclusives per week)

its a huge point of difference between the codes , & no doubt foxtel have given the awful the hint , that if this doesn't change then they won't get much of an increase in the rights for 2025 onward ( they didn't pay anymore then the 2017-22 deal amount in the extension for 23-24)

the NRL currently gets 240 Million PA for its 8 games a week
the AWFUL 213 Million for 9 games
if the AWFUL caves & gives foxtel 5 games a week exclusive . then Ch 7 will chirp insisting they won't pay any more then they' are atm

If the entire 9 game package goes to another carrier completely ( fluff talk at this stage & highly unlikely ) the profits will come from subscribers not FTA , & any streaming service will insist that there is exclusivity in their deal too driving subscribers behind the paywall & forcing them to pay to view.
fans of all the sides not in Victoria will be the big losers here & the backlash will be loud

enjoy fumblers
