ANZAC DAY

Post by Fred »

You just can’t beat ANZAC Day at the MCG - I don’t think it matters what sport is played there- it’s an amazing stadium - particuarly when a large crowd is there. I think the ANZAC eve night game is also becoming a thing - something special with other service being a night.

Having a large crowd makes a difference of course. I find it magical - plus the atmosphere in the city on game day, kicking a footy with the young bloke out the front amongst the late gum trees.

I would agree that rugby league would not be that special, and cricket can be a bit dull.
Next go and see an exciting game…AFL played at the “G”.

In all seriousness, I think a game of AFL does have a lot more going on more frequently - this is not a criticism of NRL just a point of difference. My brother likes going to the Storm as he likes the big hits and being close to the action. I think the MCG and AFL go really well together - when there a decent crowd. I did go once after shaking tins for Berry Street fundraiser - Melbourne and Richmond - was allowed in afterwards and was struck by the low crowd and a totally different experience I was used to - being a Collingwood supporter. So crowd is everything. I think oval ground detract from the very thing people like about RL and NRL - being close to the action and the big hits - hearing them apparently is meant to be amazing.

I've seen fumbling at the G pal. It's still the same stumbling, bumbling, fumbling mess. The only difference is a screaming crowd that is obviously very very easy to please.

I went to a MLB game bottom Red Sox against the Detroit tigers. The next day the press declared the game of the decade.
Wouldn’t know from the majority of the crowd who spent most of page game on their phone…I thought it dull. NBA, well it was packed, loud, and a very small stadium that most patrons yelled whilst looking at
Their phone.

I have not been to a NRL game…have tried to watch it a couple times,,,,I have failed. Don’t even like it on PlayStation.
