they were all over us for the first 6 or 7 rounds of 2021, & even with them gearing their telecast schedule with extra national FTA games
while ours is unaltered , we're neck & neck atm

this doesn't bode well for the fumbling game ... doesn't bode well at all
that looks like a prediction.

Also note: they havent geared shit this year.

The Wednesday night opener replaced the normal public Holiday monday game - which is normally much higher rating than this Wednesday game was. Blockbuster games that would normally be in the early rounds with the big victorian clubs arent fixtured until later - much to the AFls chagrin i expect.

You're not neck and neck. You're an entire round in front at the moment and still behind on average.

National broadcast fixturing in the first two rounds - as defined by Channel 7

2022 - 8
2021 - 8
2020 - 8
2019 - 8
2018 - 8
2017 - 8
2016 - 8
2015 - 8

etc, etc

All Ill say is this, we've never had this much data before - to the point that im not even running comparisons to previous years, results will be interesting.
    :(/ :(/ :(/

yep
the fumblers are gun shy folks

as they should be

Nothing to do with being gun shy - its a general lack of comparative data. I generally dont know what a 47% increase in Kayo ratings for the AFL means for previous years because theres literally not enough data. Same goes for the increase in Kayo ratings for the NRL.

And unlike you, people expect me to actually justify my reasoning when i put stuff out.

Dude I call the ratings when they happen, not before.
We're in statistical unknowns, ask me in a couple of rounds when ive got more than 15 games worth of data.

It is interesting that nearly 2 million more watched the AFL - averaging nearly 50,000 more per match. Do you think this is due to there seeming to be more games in isolation? More people at home watching - given poor crowds? Who knows.

oh and

NRL R1 - 5.3m
AFL R1 - 6.4m

Round 3 prelim overnights are close this week NRL 4.781, AFL 4.728.

Interesting to note that despite the shift back to WIN, regional percentage of viewing has dropped from 67% of metro to 55%.

I agree round 2 for AFl was disappointing, a bit of a shame that it still thrashed NBRL….wait for AFL round 3…
There are lies, damn lies and then there are ratings.

As Seven defines it, the national broadcast of Sevens Afternoon Football includes the late game in perth. You can see this on the Oztam trackers if you use your eyes.

The saturday night game last week wasnt shown in Perth either. And the Saturday night broadcast this week had a different game in brisbane.
