Great move. The RL women provide an immeasurably better spectacle than the poor AFLW girls. It's just that it's really hard to make fumbling look good!! At any level. I feel for the AFLW females.

They really needed to increase the number of teams so this is a good move.

Hearing Expansion will be delayed by 12 months.

If it is true...

it would mean it would not align with next broadcast deal.

COVID is being blamed for reason (which is understandable) though annoying

It looks like Peter The Great has done it again!!! He's extracted more money from Fox for an an extra team plus another $10M over years. The new team will effectively cost the NRL zilch! Well done PTG!! Well done Rugby League!!

and this does not even include FTA paying extra....

it is not free, Fox have paid what they think is a reasonable price of expansion side in a Brisbane market
which they think they can increase Fox Subscribers.

FTA (which has yet to be negotiated will pay for the increase Brisbane team in the NRL's 2nd strongest market with more FTA games of a Brisbane Team and Big Derby games.

NRL punters have always said, imagen the worth of a 17th team let alone an 18th team which creates a 9th game.

Equals potentially more subs for future games, as game will see a split of around 50 / 50 on FTA and FOX>

they recan it is worth $100mill.

It has been quoted many times Extra team in Brisbane is worth around $200mill to the NRL over 5 years.
and when FTA to come they will hit that.
