2018 Finals series the AFL rated 545,000 on Fox for a prelim (highest NRL final was 413k)
2017 Finals series the AFL rated 552,000 on Fox for a prelim (highest NRL final was 409k)
2016 Finals series the AFL rated 534,000 on Fox for a prelim (highest NRL final was 375k)

second ODI between Aus v India last year rated 585,000 - was the most-watched ODI ever in subscription television history,

Now we know that the average NRL streaming audience is about 58% of the STB audience - so its likely that Satrurday night reaches the 600k marj, but the rest will porobably drop beloew the 550k mark - at a guess.

BUT the record for the highest rating Foxtel show was the 2011 Rugby World Cup semi final between Australia and New Zealand which attracted 719,000 viewers, beaten only by the 1.019m who watched the Game of Thrones Finale.

it just depends

last nights game had just 2 tries in total
but its what transpired outside them & it was amazing ball movement equalled by astounding scrambling defence by both sides
great kicking games
bone jarring brutal defence
lots of fatigue & mistakes too
you litterally could not take your eyes off that game last night

this isn't always the case with low scoring games , it all hinges on the amount of footy played in the game.

but yes
we should not assume rule changes designed to increase try scoring impoves the spectacle & last night is concrete proof.
