No Australian Rules was not played at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, no demonstration sport was.truthbomber wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 7:14 pmyou have no doubt ?Quolls2019 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 9:32 amA childish example demonstrating on why this site loses and doesn’t gain members.
However regarding the subject matter, I have no doubt that Australian Rules in some form will be played as a demonstration sport at the Brisbane games.
tell me fumbler
was it played in Sydney ?
no
read it as gospel
there is no way that vicderpian montrocity will embarrass our nation in brisbane
The IOC suspended demonstration sports after the 1992 games and they were not reintroduced until this year..again a pointless argument from you….at least you are consistent.
There are lies, damn lies and then there are ratings.
Rugby league, Australias most popular game in some of North Eastern Australia.

Re: Aflol at 2032 olympics
I don’t think th VFL would do anything or any state body (i.e., SANFL, WAFL, TFL etc. etc). If any state body it would be the QAFL but even then would doubt it. i think possibly the AFL if anyone was going to, would lobby for this if they wanted to but definetely not a state based league/admin. Even if the QAFL did push for it it would likely do so through the AFL don’t you think?
But yes, do agree unlikely although possible. Each country likes to promote a local sport and how more local can you get than a sport invented in the country. There is also Polo Cross of course.

Yeah that's true Freddo. But we need a non parochial sport. One not laughed at by over half the population. One that brings folk together doesn't divide them. I'd suggest long distance spitting!!! It is done all round the country. It unites the whole nation. It doesn't reward failure. It is skillful and and has a useful purpose.Fred wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 8:41 amI don’t think th VFL would do anything or any state body (i.e., SANFL, WAFL, TFL etc. etc). Again, what sort of reply is that? It is this type of nonsensical reply that sees people stay away. I addressed your point properly and cause you have apparently no serious comment you respond like an 8 year old? People making proper comment then just roll eyes and wonder what’s the point.

Re: Aflol at 2032 olympics
No Fred. People roll their eyes at the very point of this thread. It is a stupid non event thread. The Olympics are a global event. Fumbling is a quintessentially parochial ,regional sport played in one small country. It has no place in the olympics and will not be played at any level in Brisbane.Fred wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 7:50 amAgain, what sort of reply is that? Basically it's a waste of time thread. Except of course for bubble dwelling fumble zealots. Hence you get nonsensical replies to a moot, nonsensical thread.
Hope that helps Fred!!

I thought that was what the article actually said as the opinion of the author …. And I thought the talk had moved onto Aussie rules possibly being a demonstration sport. Agee re: actual official sport - no chance.

Re: Aflol at 2032 olympics
AFL would be looking at putting their sport in the Olympics purely for promotional reasons. Giving their sport an overseas audience. Something that never happens at the moment.
It would not be a good sell though. They have no other countries playing the sport professionally. So the quality would be lower than a local suburban Melbourne AFL match. It would honestly not work.
Rugby League could definitely do a 9's comp. PNG, Fiji, USA, New Zealand, England etc..
Rugby 7s still seems the best option though, due to it being the biggest internationally.
