On a series note. No overlapping AFL games this week. Be interested if Saturday night and Arvo (or wherever they traditionally overlap) are higher. Will averages be higher also ?

well the lions are getting bigger crowds and rating far more than the storm, especially considering their population. Not to mention the storm's 25 years of dominance while the lions have been in no man's land for 2 decades. Now they are finally competitive they're up there with the broncos despite the introduction of another AFL club in the GC.

the 92000 at the MCG & several 80000 plus crowds for origin would suggest they're there
& the 60000 in Perth too
when we get origin in adelaide with no crowd restrictions in a few years
theyll be 50000 plus there too

we can fill any stadium in the country with our sport

And as I realise, Rl rates generally better on fox but there are more followers of Rl on fox so that makes sense as limited games on fta. But also explains the AFL doing better on fta. Ratings are so fraught with so many factors influencing them they really only tell at best a cloudy story. Rl rating well on fox is like an AFL game rating well on an AFL streaming channel... of they do.

AFL is clearly the biggest sporting body in Australia ... no one denies this... there is a reason for this.
