Do you think they are trying to show in isolation more, we saw how the ratings went up last year when they did this.

the AFL will sometimes do isolation but the ratings only go up marginally. comparing last year is pointless.
you are better of comparing it with 2019,

AFL system works perfectly it is why they do it this way..

I think if they could they would prefer to show the games in isolation for obvious reasons - can't watch two games at once.

Under the FTA and Fox agreement they have in place compared to NRL.
it works for them.
and it is why they have stayed with it for so long.. AFL are not dummies.

if the NRL had the same agreement as AFL but all in isolation you would have a big point.

broadcasters would very much prefer a sunday night and monday night game - the AFL got rid of these due to attendance issues, not tv matters
do you have figures from previous years comparing sunday night to saturday night.
i remember by memory yes AFL drawing low crowds in AFL standards for these two nights. Sunday & Monday Night
though i dont remember the ratings being that Huge either. maybe bigger than an afternoon.
but nothing to scream about.

overall if your going to get 30-40k more fans watching tv but 30-40% less fans attending i would always take the more fans

as one-off Sunday and Monday night games they havent rated particularly high, but if they became a regular fixture they'd rate higher than early afternoon on the weekend.

that could be true, but its a fixture that tends to bring in less fans,
I guess it would be up to the AFL to do this, if they were willing to trial it for a few years
and build on Sunday Night or Monday Night it would most likely build year after year, but have early setbacks earlier on.

NRL had Monday Night Football for many years, it rated brilliant... though the crowd average was like 10-12k
and it became to close to Thursday Night football.
So they decided to Axe and Bring in more Thursday Games.

Isn’t 10 to 12 thousand a good crowd for the Nrl ?

no Fred,
NRL season is 16k
Not including REP or international Games and Finals.

come to think of it, i think it was lower for monday night games.
12k seems to high for an Average.

I did say NRL not internationals and SoO.

What I am saying is - that's not a bad or terrible crowd for the NRL - many a game on a weekend get that amount don't they? - so not really a reason to stop showing the game on Monday's. If it were 4 or 5 thousand I could understand but 10-12 thousand crowds aren't that uncommon in the NRL.

my Mistake, #-o

yes correct alot of games get around that 12k mark

i think it had more to do with Thursday Night Football. and FTA preferring Thursday instead of Monday.

Fridays games: NRL 907k. AFL 917k. When streaming comes in it's gonna be another win to RL!!!

The AFL season has had a very underwhelming start to the year. Do any of our fumble friends know why????
