don't talk sense to these fumbling halfwits. Thats just not on.
Lockdown added probs 300K to their tally in the end .... & anyone with a brain is not going to believe
that 850K watched both Grand finals in the regionals
with 6 Million people to draw on in the NRL heartland regionals
and 3 million in the AFL regionals

If it wasn't for the 2 sin bins to the storm which made panthers score 4 try's
to give the score line some creditability.
(in my 25 years of watching Grand Final's i would put this game and 2008 Grand final
as the worst ever.
Storms defence was incredible to watch. Panthers threw everything at them.
And with the Panthers first try being total bull shit, which I can't understand for the life of me why it wasn't challenged.
The 2 sin bins as you say was the catalyst for them to score.
The other highlight was listening to Gus squirm....

Couldn't challenge as it went to the video ref anyway - but it seemed clear to those who know such a ex-players commentating - that it was not a try cause he went behind his player to kick.
Also - how bias was Gus Gould..... think he hates Melbourne much.
And how good was Cameron Smith mentioning the Big V - funnily enough I have never thought of Melbourne as representing Victoria - thought that was a good move by Smith. The Big V brought memories of State of Origin in AFL or the VFL v Sa or WA etc.

its like being down by 70 to 0 leading into the final quarter. lol
NRL's Highest ratings Grand Final's do not actually involve the Storm
Highest Rating Grand Finals TOP 3 (all 3 games over 4mill)
SOUTHS V CANTERBURY 2014
TIGERS V COWBOYS 2005
COWBOYS V BRONCOS 2015
STORM GF have rated alot higher when losing or being close.
2006
2009
2016

Storm are lucky it was a wet pitch and very wet day.
as you could see from the game, Panthers play an attacking style of play.
which did not benefit them with the Slow Pitch conditions.
the referring was not good either, for both sides.
channel 9 Commentary team are a disaster.
channel 7 rip em to pieces.

and a Melbourne and Sydney team playing in the NRL GF would have added 200-300k, especially given Melbourne was in lockdown.baselinepanther wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 9:48 amsssshhhh

Yeah, it's a real worry for the NRL that both their metro and regional markets are providing such poor ratings. Those poor NRL fans in the country still dont know how to change their TV's from WIN to SC after nearly a decade

But I think the bunker bloke fucked up.
You listen to his ruling and he corrects him self right at the point he's describing when he goes behind his team mate.
Then just runs with it.
The Big V has reaffirmed it's total dominance as the sporting capital.
The Melbourne Vixens, Richmond Tigers, Melbourne Storm.
And Can pronouncing it was the cherry.... Loved it

The Storm ratings in Victoria were 608k. In the Storms previous two Grand Final appearances they rated 551k and 664k in Victoria. So no real bost there, nothing like the AFL benefited.NlolRL wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 2:17 pmand a Melbourne and Sydney team playing in the NRL GF would have added 200-300k, especially given Melbourne was in lockdown.baselinepanther wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 9:48 amsssshhhh

And yes it was a bit of a concern. But Penrith are the worst rating side in Sydney side, And our ratings were up almost 15% so there not a great deal of concern.
And with 3 Origin games coming up over the few weeks....WOW! just WOW
Rugby League, the dominant force in Australian sport!

and what does the nrl fg rate in Melb without the storm? Maybe there was no real boost in ratings because even storm fans are becoming indifferent to their success. In the 23 years of NRL history no other team comes close to them.
6 Grand final wins. Next best 3. With them making the GF another 4 times but not winning.
They've finished top of the ladder 7 times.
And made the semis 19 of the 23 years.
Making Victoria having the greatest Rugby league team in NRL history. With no sign of "coming to an end" imo.
The Big V reign supreme.
And I can't begin to tell you how much entertainment I get listening to the likes of Gus Gould trying to swallow that pill.

the only disappointing thing about it..
The majority of the team over the years has been made up full of Queenslanders with some Kiwi's.
it has nothing to do with the fabric or sporting city of Melbourne..
which is what is annoying.
the whole success of the team is the Owners, coaching and recruiting team.
