this is what he wrote at the time , he brushes over it a bit here
but was on several TV shows at the time as well , & went into more detail about how it would affect the NRL ratings & it would be significant.
He was dead right. 4 Million potential viewers are affected.

The NRL expects Nine's decision to partner with regional affiliate Southern Cross in regional Queensland, southern NSW and Victoria from July 1, to cause a drop off in regional viewership, and therefore have an impact on national viewer numbers in the annual bragging rights contest with the AFL.
Nine has severed its relationship with WIN where there is strong incumbency in NSW, owing to the channel being the initial news broadcaster into the region. This incumbency could see a drop off in southern NSW audience numbers for NRL, as viewers are asked to switch from their traditional channel preference to the weaker Southern Cross. Naturally, more avid NRL fans will switch channels, but fringe viewers may drop off.
The NRL anticipates a similar trend in regional Queensland although more moderate, owing to Queensland's preference for Prime. Northern NSW will remain on WIN, meaning it is unlikely to be affected.
1. It doesnt say anything about the ratings being incorrectly counted. The audience is the audience. If regional viewers wont even change channels to watch the NRL then they obviously dont care about RL
2. it says the fringe viewers may drop of. Are you trying to tell me 50% of your regional audience were fringe viewers?
3. Perth and on occasion Adelaide also changed channels from 7 to 7mate for the AFL which has resulted in a drop in viewers. Funny how you ignore this
Bottom line, regional ratings are correctly counted, there's just less people watching the NRL. If they cant figure out how to change the TV station maybe they need a tutorial.
Comedy gold Dave, cheers
