HISTORY KANGAROOS V ALL BLACKS
WOW JUST WOW
All Blacks v Kangaroos: Secret talks for cross-code blockbuster
The New Zealand All Blacks and Mal Meninga’s Australia Kangaroos are set to make sporting history by squaring off in a multimillion-dollar, cross-code Christmas blockbuster this year.
News Corp Australia can reveal New Zealand Rugby and the National Rugby League are in top-secret negotiations to stage a hybrid, 14-a-side international in one of the most significant moments in the 150-year history of trans-Tasman sport.
The cross-code spectacular will be branded and marketed as … HISTORY.
The concept has been kept secret for the past three months but it can today be revealed the NZR and NRL are locked in talks with promoters to pit All Blacks players against Kangaroos stars before Christmas this year.
The contest has been slated for Saturday, December 5 — three weeks after this year’s State of Origin series.

Re: HISTORY KANGAROOS V ALL BLACKS
They've played these cross code games in the UK before. None of 'em were any good. One half was League the other Union. As you would expect the leaguies flogged 'em at their game and the Union boys won easily at theirs. In any case they were basically non events.
The key will be what rules they play under. Half and half ain't gonna cut it. They'll need to come to a compromise but that is gonna be very very difficult. Something closer to league without union scrums, rucks and mauls would make the best spectacle. Whether the Union fellas would agree to that will be the problem.
If they do however come to compromise rules that provide an exciting game the sky would be limit. A third style of Rugby played at international level amongst the best of both games would get massive ratings, crowds and media.

are you for being for real...
how could you not even know.
Its Australian Kangaroos (RUGBY LEAGUE) V All Blacks (UNION)
rules would be taken from League & Union
this has the potential to be the biggest game ever in Australian Sport.
only thing going against it, is timing Decemeber.

8 tackle Sets.
No Lineouts
NRL Scrums
rolling mauls.
14 a side.
Other rules to be derminded.
they are doing a mix of rules to benefit each other.
(i still think the quicker the game it will benefit rugby league) especially if this includes 10 meter defence lines

I guess something didn’t seem right with the two codes ... I knew the all blacks were rugby it thought as much but wasn’t sure who the kangaroos were and thinking rugby Australian team wasn’t named that.... so that was my confusion sorry.
As for the game ... I’m not a fan of those hybrid code games. Think they are silly. You think it will be big? I think they really mean nothing to be honest.

Re: HISTORY KANGAROOS V ALL BLACKS
Hybrid games can work well just look at the international rules match between Ireland and Australia, certainly not for everyone, but still has its fans.
All Blacks vs Kangaroos is brave innovative concept that might work, won't know until it happens.

Re: HISTORY KANGAROOS V ALL BLACKS
yeah the rules have to be balance..
few rules taken out from each code,
you will still be able to see the defence and attacking powers of both.
still not confirmed ago ahead yet..

Re: HISTORY KANGAROOS V ALL BLACKS
Can't see it happening TBH. The only reason would be both codes desperately needing the money. I'm not sure of NZ Rugby's position but Peter The Great has got the NRL in a pretty good spot financially. My prediction is it won't happen.leeroy*NRL* wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2020 5:36 pmyeah the rules have to be balance..
