so if it is subscriptions and not ratings..The_Wookie wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2020 2:25 pmOh fuck off you imbecile.
Ratings are indicative of viewers, they arent definitive in terms of subscriptions - which is what matters. Would you like me to draw you a fucking picture in crayon so you can understand it better.
When it has been prooven NRL have more subs and get bigger ratings on FOX>
yet AFL paid more for the Fox rights last deal, even knowing NRL outrated the AFL every year since the deal..
(is it the fact FOX have paid overs)

I’m sure there are many things factored in. Like the afl support shows also rate well. It may be potential subscriptions with nrl subscriptions saturated and afl more of a target merger. With there being a decent presence of afl outside afl states (just look at teams) maybe there is much more potential. Particuarly if it’s hard to watch afl on mainstream. I never took up fix until I moved to qld due to poor coverage and because on Fta they will play lions or suns over say Collingwood.

Good points about the Fox Footy shows rating well during the week along with much more potential for growth in subscriptions.Fred wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 8:07 am I’m sure there are many things factored in. What potential
Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't most Swans ..gws ..lions..gcs games shown into their home markets already ..
So why would anyone sign up to fox when they can watch on FTA

Re: Rupert Murdoch "We've always preferred Aussie Rules"
So if you are a collingwood supporter like me and a suns or lions game is on at the same time as a collingwood one you don’t get the collingwood one. It’s a pain in the arse. So I got foxtel for this reason alone. With so many afl people in qld I am sure I’m not alone. I think having suns or lions aired live over other games actually negatively impacts ratings.

Re: Rupert Murdoch "We've always preferred Aussie Rules"
Lol you are talking potential .
Afl fans on the coast would already have fox if they followed southern teams .
They Suns fans & lol how many are there ?... don't need it .
So how many fans of other teams would, there be ...not enough for a spike in subscriptions
After all we are told over & over how much afl is growing .
How the Suns are getting peopel interested .

Re: Rupert Murdoch "We've always preferred Aussie Rules"
Brisbane currently get 2/3 of there games on FTA. So many Broncos fans wouldn't worry about a fox subscription. They will spend a lot less time on FTA when a 2nd Brisbane team comes in. So fox will not only pick up subs for the new team but also from the Broncos fans.
That real potential, not endless crap like the other mob rave on and on about but, but, but

Re: Rupert Murdoch "We've always preferred Aussie Rules"
That’s actually a good point Crapper. Afl fans would already have foxtel. So the potential there you would think would be filled. So yes, hadn’t thought of that and your point makes sense.AFLcrap1 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 5:54 pm Lol you are talking potential .

And yes, the suns fans, and I would agree there are as many suns fans, if not more, than titans fans, would not need it. So yes, agree.
How are the suns getting people interested. Well, the only way they be getting people interested is by winning I feel. Yes, Australian rules has a very large presence here... in most schools, played in large numbers, and yes, lots of kids seem to have their jumpers on at kids footy training. As these kids come through I guess the hope is that they continue to support the suns ...but winning will certainly consolidate this. The afl also recognise this and have also offerred a lot of support to see them win more (you can argue to fairness of this or otherwise but for this thread it is about how they are attracting more support so mentioned this re:winning). Also the suns work hard to get into schools (player vists etc.) which many nrl fans point to as something the afl does well and wish the nrl did half as well (I think there is a recent thread on this and concern with the reduction of funding to such programmes in the nrl). So i am not concerned about the afl wanting to get more fans of the suns... weather they come or not is the question. What you have now however through all this poor form is at least 12 to 14 thousand rusted on fans that have shown to stick through thick and thin....that’s a great base. I think this is where the suns have it over the giants .... giants did well too soon or went from bad to good to quickly. I think or wonder whether this support is “rusted” on ... I think the suns have a more solid base of supporters.
