All a storm in a tea cup. I would love to hear from a sociologist about all the hysteria and people being drama queens. People love a crisis when they can react but really doesn't impact them.

I can almost agree with ya there Freddo!! This thing has to be dealt with seriously but people are definitely going nuts. In the end this will be a much bigger economic disaster than a health one.

Agree- I wonder if more people will suffer from mental health and suicide as their businesses go broke or income drops - all for what I feel is a massive overreaction. Perspective people.

Response to Ross Lyon re getting rid of suns fron tony Cochran
old Coast Suns chairman Tony Cochrane has blasted former Fremantle coach Ross Lyon for his comments about the future of the expansion club.
Speaking on Footy Classified, Lyon said scrapping the Suns and continuing with a 17-team competition could help save the league as the coronavirus pandemic takes its toll.
Cochrane said he couldn’t understand why the AFL’s second-newest club comes under such constant attack.
“One thing you learn up here is the effort of defence,” he said on Sportsday.
“I can’t believe how often I have to step forward and defend our young club, it’s borderline ridiculous and incredibly frustrating.
“Everyone single person in the world has the current problem but the only real ongoing problem we have up here is one of success.
“We’ve built 28 new ovals in the last five years in the Gold Coast region and it’s not enough. We’ve got junior football in both girls and boys absolutely exploding from one end of Queensland to another and that’s because the AFL commission have done 10 years of hard work and used the TV rights money to get us in that position.
“Why anybody would even consider chopping thar growth just proves they’re not only a failed coach, but they don’t know much about economics either.”
28 new aussie rules ovals .... numbers up .... see long term thinking from a business man .. a successful one.

Re: Coronavirus - where your sport stands at this point
The Gc website for AFL
Lol how much area do they want
Welcome to AFL Gold Coast Juniors.
Gold Coast Junior competitions have merged into SEQ Juniors which now covers the following areas:-
Gold Coast
Northern Rivers
Brisbane
Sunshine Coast
Lol lol lol
So including NNSW Up to NOOSA is now the GC
The spin doctors are very good
Bullshit levels ...over the top .
As for 28 new afl grounds
I'd like to see the evidence
Due to the fact that a lot of AFL peopel lie through their teeth .
& are these multi purpose grounds
Or just AFL .
Because according to the afl crowd in here multi purpose is not solely AFL .
Lol
I'll await some evidence
And does this number of new Ovals include the new MOST OF SEQ GC Aflol area.
Because if so
It's a straight out lie
NNSW is not GC
NOOSA or Sunshine Coast is NOT GC .
So many lols when they put out a statement in the media

Re: Coronavirus - where your sport stands at this point
I think that is the governing body i suspect. There are still the local leagues of course in each area. Which makes sense from an administrative point of views. (Just quietly .. did you actually go and research this after my post?). Just a question and not having a go... just curious.
A lot of the expansion I believe is due to the women’s game. It’s quite big here in the Gold Coast and in south east qld. This has seen a need for more ovals for training and games as there simply isn’t the room and the grounds are not coping with increased games. Re: grounds and questioning the number of new ones... I think it is healthy to be sceptical whilst remaining objective and wondered whether you obvious skills at researching such things would be able to find out one way or another? I guess there would be council records or permits or even these ground having names associated with them ? If you did find out it was not true or hazy at best I’m sure you’d be posting ... but would you also post if you found it to be true?

Re: Coronavirus - where your sport stands at this point
"Cochrane said he couldn't understand why the AFL's second newest club comes under such constant attact." There's ya problem right there. If he can't understand why AFL folk want to fold the Suns he hasn't got a clue. Especially under the current circumstances.Fred wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 9:51 pmResponse to Ross Lyon re getting rid of suns fron tony Cochran

Oh dear .what are you ranting about now .
What conspiracy theory .
I posted what is on the GC afl website .
& I asked for some evidence of 28 new grounds .
Maybe you should consult a dictionary before posting any word which contains more than 3 letters .because you don't seem to have any idea what they mean
