Touch is still not rl. It’s a sport in its own right governed by their own body and rules. It grew out of rl yes... just as league grew out of Union. All three have codified rules that define the game. You seem to want it both ways.... you want to say rugby League is not union which is correct but not accept the same for Touch.

The federation of international Touch clearly outlines the growth and it’s rules. I think taking out kicking of the ball and taking football out of the name were important milestones for the game in developing its own identity.

The AFL says it will be ready if coronavirus forces it to play games in front of empty stadiums, or cancel them entirely.

Sporting competitions all over the world have been disrupted by the disease with governments forcing mass gatherings not to take place.

Serie A and European soccer matches in Italy have been played in empty arenas because of this, while Japan placed a mass ban on major events including sport, concerts and even professional wrestling bouts.

Funny - but true - what was the NRL average? More at a Westfield shopping centre in Sydney most NRL games lol. At least they have Broncos to build their average and Parra are doing a little better since the new stadium. Wonder if they'll get 6000 crowds again lol.

I saw someone suggest they have the game in a bushfire affected area - great idea I think. something the NRL got right I thought.

20k average at the new stadium, that will go up this year with a winning side. plus the eels are one of the highest rating teams in the NRL on tv and the last time they were any good, they absolutely demolished the highest rating afail team in collingwood in yearly ratings even though they had far fewer FTA games LOL.

The AFL really couldnt give a damn about international AFL. Ask any one overseas that tries to get funding - theres fuck all to be had. AFL exhibtion matches are primarily about sponsor dollars - even if the league touts other benefits - while international combines are about bringing talent here, not growing talent there.

The AFL isnt really trying to sell the game to the Chinese. Its about bringing Chinese sponsors and money back to the AFL. The AFL spends fuck all trying to promote the game internationally - this particular jaunt is primarily funded by sponsors and the Port Adelaide football club.

It must be a major kick in the head then for the AFL. All this time , effort, money - not to mention lies, that they put into it. And theyv'e got f-all out of it . And now we hear that the NRL have just signed a major sponsorship deal with a Chinese company
